You probably mean "professional-style" and not true professional range. Start out by using the Best Buy website (or ABT or Sears, etc) and use the filters to refine your search, and then list the ones that you like the appearance and price of, and them research features and reliability of each.

36"-wide induction ranges are uncommon and extraordinarily expensive. Neither Home Depot nor Best Buy even sells them. Consumer Reports top-rated 30" induction range is the GE Profile PHS930SLSS.

Induction is nothing like smooth top electric.

Can you do a 36” cooktop over a wall oven put under counter? Or do you have to have a range? I would get a Bosch. I had their cooktop and wall ovens. Loved them. Would not hesitate to get hem again.

Bosch NITP668SUC (Rated 99 by Consumer Reports): $2900.

Frigidaire FFIC3626TB(least expensive): $803

Sometimes, the price is worth it for the functionality. In this case, we feel that Freedom Masterpiece is worth the extra cost for the way we cook. Others may feel differently. Since the OP didn't mention any budgetary limits, I felt that letting them know about the Thermador wasn't out of place.

I have a 36" Gagg full surface induction cooktop, sister brand to Bosch/Thermador and love it dearly. It is far, far better than gas (which I also have.) I doubt Consumer Reports would be keen on it.

I would get a Bosch induction range, though they don't come in 36".

Looks like it might be time to clarify some more of the vocabulary. A few folks here say "oven" and mean what many others would call a "range" or a "stove" which is an appliance with burners/hobs on the top and an integrated baking-broiling appliance. Most others say "oven" and mean a stand-alone baking-broiling appliance which goes in a wall or cabinet. Some folks here use the term "range" to mean an appliance without an oven which is either a "cooktop" (hobs that sit in a countertop with the controls (knobs, touchpads, whatever) on top or a "rangetop" (hobs on top with a vertical plate across the front to hold the controls, looking like rather like the top part of a stove without the oven that is inserted.

So, Craig, if you actually came looking for a range (hobs and oven together), that's how you wind up mostly getting advice on cooktops rather than ranges.

If you are looking for an actual "stove" rather than a standalone cooktop, and you want a "pro-style" induction model --- "pro-style" meaning either something with a lot of stainless steel and chunky knobs or else premium-priced high-styled goods -- your choices for 36" wide induction ranges are very limited. As Waverly mentioned above, Wolf makes the IR365XE --- which you can get in two slightly different trim designs (mainly different handles, as best I can tell.) Fisher and Paykel (a Haier subsidiary) and Dacor (a subsidiary of Samsung) each offer a 36 inch model. The F&P (OR36S) has a bunch of knobs and an analog clock face while the Dacor i(HiPR36) is all sleek touchpads and screens (high-end look but doesn't look like an appliance for a "commercial" setting.) Bertazzoni offers three 36" models, one that is counter depth, one that is more or less restaurant-style stainless steel with knobs and an analog dial gauge, and one that you can get in a variety of colors.

For online vendors, you can try the big names like AJ Madison which seems to carry almost everything. Might be a good place to start because AJ Madison has search filters that will allow you to narrow the choices down to 36" and 48" wide induction ranges. You can then see which, if any, of them meet your ideas for a "professional" look.

You also mentioned that you were looking for something with six burners. AFAIK, all of the current crop of 36" induction ranges offer only five burners, not six.

If you would rather have a stand-alone 36" induction cooktop, there are a lot more choices but I do not recall any that have six burners (they all have five, IIRC). Nor do I recall any with styling that makes them look like commercial appliances for restaurant kitchens.

I guess I was working with the assumption you wanted 36" or bigger but there are many 30 inch induction ranges.

Not for an astounding $6100. For just a cooktop!

So Gasgenau discontinued their full surface induction cooktop a while ago. Since it is the same as the Thermador one, I doubt it would have cost any more. I can't tell you what this cooktop cost because it came with my house. I would have chosen the Gagg cooktop with the gorgeous machined knobs you fit into your cabinetry, instead of the touchpad.

At any rate it is a great cooktop and I am sure its sister products in both the Bosch and Thermador lines are equally as good.

i have had an induction range for a decade. Correct me if my opinion is wrong but I really can't see over-paying for a "high-end" induction range. The way the cooktop works -- I highly doubt there is going to be much difference in functionality between a low-end and high-end. Been cooking on my Kenmore induction for over ten years and it does everything any other induction range can do (except no bridge element).

My sister has the 36” Wolf range and she is very happy with it. We have the 48” Aga induction range and we are not happy with it at all.

In case the intent (or any reader's intent) is to search out actual professional induction hobs, then I would refer the searcher to Cooktek. One could put an array of Cooktek induction hobs into a counter along with a suitably long hood to cover them. There may be other pro sources since I last looked a decade ago.

cjammer, could you tell more about why you don't like the Aga induction? I LOVE the look of it and the multiple ovens . It's one of the very few (large induction ranges but I'm leaning away from it as I think 48 inches wastes space for only 5 burners. There is no flex link feature for the burners and the largest burner is only 10 inches.

Cjammer, could you please share your thoughts about the Aga? Lots of people have questions about it, and few Americans have that range. It is so gorgeous. I am very disappointed to see it does not live up to its looks.ncould you let us know what the problems with it are?

Further on the subject of 6-burner induction appliances, I'm remembering that Viking still offers a 36" induction cooktop model with six induction hobs. I'm not recalling any ranges of any size that have more than five induction burners. As Waverly noted above, even the 48" wide AGAs have only 5 induction hobs.

Now for those who want something big and unique, with a $$$$$ budget for a stove, you can get a VIking-Tuscany or Technogas-Superiore, 7 burner 48-inch range model which combines a 12" wide griddle, 2 gas burners and 4 induction hobs. Puts a rather different spin on "dual fuel range," eh? Of course, for anybody with money to burn and a passion for the truly unique, Molteni will custom build anything you might want. :>)

Never mind the budget, pity Viking hasn't redeemed its reputation yet.

Oh, no, another rube! Dontcha know, $15K stoves, $2K dishwashers, $6K cooktops are all the rage here on houzz.

With induction the 'fake' professional range is not happening. Because no such unit is used in a restaurant.

Induction uses a 40 or 50A 220v circuit. Adding electric oven capability should get another circuit. A high quality 6 burner range isn't out there. This would happen if you installed an electric oven below a cooktop or a couple ovens separately somewhere else. True professional induction units are all cooktops. No ranges.

I wouldn't consider a Viking product of any type. Consumer Reports doesn't test a broad enough range of products these days, because there are so many, to be the final word. The problem with price as your primary guide is the current lack of longevity engineered into many products in the lower to mid range. No one here wants to pay more. But for some things it will end up costing you less over a 10 year period to buy a product that's made to last. Even if the initial price is more than a Whirlpool with it's 1 year warranty. Just avoid paying more for poor quality, such as Viking.
