Patio Furniture-Quality difference between Target vs. High end
Comments (56)I found this thread because I just got off the phone with my wife who informed me that replacement slings for our set of six Telescope chairs will be $780.00! That is a very tough pill to swallow, and like many here we weighed this heavily against just getting a cheaper set from HD, Costco, or any number of stores. Our set is about 10 years old to date (purchased summer of 2010) and the aluminum frames, table, and umbrella have held up extremely well (we do store them inside for winter though). Ultimately, I decided to stick with these and pay the exorbitant price for a few reasons: - The rest of the set is extremely high quality. I feel good each year when I pull it out of storage - heavy duty powder coated aluminum construction that has lasted well and still looks 9/10 after a spring wipe-down. - It does bother me how much importation has changed - pushing us toward a throw-away-away-and-buy-another culture. I do feel like we enjoy additional quality on these American made items (not always the case). - Less and less stuff is American made any more. As an engineer and a maker, I miss the days when we made most of the best stuff here. This set still exemplifies that quality. It's a little thing, but something I rarely get to enjoy these days. - After 10 years, with very little degradation (other than the fabric slings), I know what to expect from this set, and feel confident that they will last another 10 years easily with new fabric. The convenience of going 10-12 years between having to think about this, or take a gamble on something potentially less durable is worth something to me. Surely, I'll be feeling the sting of this bill in about a month (so good thing I'm writing this now!), but I thought I'd share what tipped us to reinvesting in this very expensive set. Comments (59)Yes, I was not suggesting that Plato was budget. I had originally not realized how much of the others I first considered -was Chinese import. (I did start looking about 2 years ago before all the tariffs and drama). When I tried to search for US Made ( as opposed to US warehouse) the choices were much diminished. I knew someone connected with Plato so I still paid more than the other brands, but I know that I got superb quality. As I said, everything that came was ready to install... Any research I did confirmed that Plato was a superior product....See MorePaint Job on Custom Kitchen Cabinets vs. Semi-Custom Cabinets?
Comments (6)We used cliqstudios cabinets in 3 projects in our last house. 2 were stained wood, 1 was the painted wood (linen). The painted cabinets withstood 2 children coloring on them with non washable crayons, colored pencil, 3 cats who loved to rub their faces on the corners and a very VERY busy work area. After pricing the cliqstudios cabinets, the same kitchen in IKEA, and KountryWood Products (available through a local dealer), we've decided to go with cliqstudios again. The prices were exactly the same, IKEA doesn't come with plywood sides, they were only available as an upgrade on the KWP's and they come standard on the cliqstudios cabinets. Plus, I don't have to build the cliqstudios cabinets. As for the finished - my parents went with a VERY high end custom cabinetry company (apologies, I don't remember the name) - white painted inset shaker style - the finish on their cabinets started looking like crap within 5 years. Places where the cabinet finish has chipped, or flaked off, discoloration, etc....See MoreFabuwood vs Cabinets.com vs. RTA???
Comments (15)Where did you get 20-50% up-charge on orders from Fabuwood? Where are you shopping at??? We carry them and we received the official announcement yesterday of only 10% Dear valued partner, Due to the current state of affairs in the international trade arena, we are one among several industries to be significantly impacted by escalating manufacturing costs. As a result of this unfortunate situation, a Regulatory Surcharge (RS) of 10% will be applied to all Fabuwood cabinetry orders, effective on all orders placed on or after June 1st, 2019. The RS will appear as a line item on your order. Orders placed prior to June 1st that are not shipped and invoiced by June 17th, 2019 will also be subject to the RS. Depending on the progress of events in the international marketplace, this surcharge may be modified or revoked in the future. We will be sure to keep you updated on any change in this regard. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Most have raised their prices 10% some 25%....See Moremike y tiffany
