Red leaf stripe, undecided flower color
Comments (5)Thanks for the reply and info, Kent. The plants in the patch where I got this have plain grn leaves with yello (spotted with red) flowers... or so I thought. Maybe I wasn't paying much attention. None of the others I brought here have any of this redness to them. But glad this interesting one happened to be at the edge of the clump. And that I got to see these flowers. It's a daily battle against the caterpillars, not very good odds for any particular stalk. That's cool, there may actually be something in my yard (besides 'house plants' - which are mostly variegated chimeras) with a fancy cultivar name. Go figure! (Yello spelled wrong on purpose to thwart ad-attachment.) This post was edited by purpleinopp on Mon, Sep 16, 13 at 9:19...See MoreI'm torn - this is not easy and I feel so sad
Comments (23)Thank you everyone - AGAIN. What an emotional roller coaster. I let my emotions run rampant (life long challenge). I've thought about things and feel I was being a little harsh. Some days my life skills take a nose dive. I'm not a working Mom raising teenagers so I don't truly appreciate my sisters homelife. She's doing the best she can and making adjustments. I called my Mom today and told her I would like to visit with her tomorrow afternoon, bring her mail, fill out change of address forms on her pensions and such and I will call to set up her home lab work with her tomorrow. I have decided when I visit my Mom I will check in advance to see what things I can do to help. My Mom is also 'working' on my sister to get a maid in since my Mom can get home help. Apparently no one could find my sister last night - she had a full laundry basket and was asleep on her son's bed - out cold. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments - they are a great help to me making this transition. I love my Mom and would like to do what I can. I just got so fed up being a door mat I felt like locking the door and changing my phone to escape. I've started sleeping again, with the doctor's help, which is helping things go back into perspective. I'm going to be rereading this post for the next couple of days and thinking about adjusting to the new routine. I'm still purgine this house and working towards painting...and I am seriously thinking of working for my temp agency again on short term contracts before I lose my mind. I don't know how not to be busy. It's just not me. (((((((((((((((((((to all my KTer friends))))))))))))))))))) You mean so much to me. LOL Peggy...See MoreTorn Between Two Layouts
Comments (22)Agreeing with what bmore said, plus, you didn't want cleanup mess on your island...and now what would be the use of all that cabinetry in the vestibule? --Time to quit thinking! ;-D Really, I do think maybe some of this needs to stew a bit. If you can with the current kitchen very much in the way, try to wander through your space and do a lot of imagining. Look from every angle, in and out of the kitchen. What do you see? What do you want to see? How will it be to walk here and there to perform different tasks? Can it work right if the sink and frig are back where they live now, with other things so different? Or do those need to change, too? Will it feel the same and be disappointing that you didn't 'fix' that when you had the chance? And I don't mean walk around quickly and decide what 'can work, even though it's just a little inconvenient'. I mean really feel the space and the layouts and let your gut do some of the talking. Go with how you'll love it. You've never headed toward what's expected, but yearn for something unique, but that works, of course...but for your family, not someone else's. Think of what YOU have in your frig and freezer and how you need to use those appliances... Remember how you wanted the snack area to function and 'see' where it will do that best. Remember the other things that were important on your list. I spent hours staring at renderings and plans for our kitchen...Getting to know it, imagining how it would feel to walk into it and work in it,...and sometimes realizing something needed fixing or changing. It really did help. Maybe you need renderings of both ideas. You know where to get them! You've put in a lot of time and work to get you to this plan with these 2 alternatives. I hate to see you take a step or 6 back, and start changing the whole thing again. But, of course, I'm with you if that's really what you want to do; if you feel that with this plan you'd be 'settling.' We don't want that!...See MoreNow I am undecided… help
Comments (34)That orange is seriously disturbing! I don't think blue highlights the orange, I think it helps. Paint your walls a creamy color or a pale, not baby, blue. Then add blue accessories. We have natural cherry bedroom furniture which looks orange. I painted the walls SW Tradewind, used a blue-patterned duvet and pillows and decorated with shades of blue in artwork and decorative items. It's all very harmonious. By the way, your room is gorgeous! Love the ceiling and everything!...See MoreK R
