How long do I need to let paint cure before wallpapering?
Comments (1)If it was me I would wait the 2 weeks If it matters, it is a sateen from Behr. Now this might make me wait longer....See MoreIm going to do it anyway! Paint over wallpaper.
Comments (3)I too had a real hard time but I finally found the trick to getting it off easily (no sizing was used on our walls, I am not even sure they were primed!) Anyway, I used paper remover from SW. I put a few ounces in a spray bottle (sort of a super concentrate) and filled with hot water. I used the wall paper tool (wall claw?) (little handle with the wheel that makes little holes in the paper) to go over the section then did it again...the more holes the merrier. Next I sprayed the solution on the area soaking it. Now you walk away for a full 15 minutes. Next repeat spray. Now again, leave for a full 15 minutes. Now spray again and start to peel off paper. It should come right off. You then should spray the area again and wipe off residue. Eventually you will want to clean the walls then prime and paint. Its a lot of work but likely less work than if your painted over paper starts to peel....See MoreWhat to do? PO painted directly over wallpaper paste . . .
Comments (2)Sand. Sand, and sand. Begin with a pole sander using #150 grit sandpaper (aluminum oxide grit). That will break open most of the finish. Follow that with a sanding of #180 to smooth it as much as possible. After sanding and dust cleanup, wash the walls with ammonia and hot water solution. Allow it to dry. Inspect. If it's acceptable you can prepare to prime. Use GARDZ to prime and lock down any residual paste. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PRIMER. GARDZ is your ticket to a satisfactory finish. Allow the GARDZ to dry throughly. You can now apply two finish coats over the GARDZ. Let me know your progress. If you have questions, email me.
