Grilled tuna salad sandwiches with tortilla chips and bean dip. Sounds like an odd combination, but it's one of our favorite meals.

It's morning here too, but I'm thinking of making a salmon quiche (canned sockeye on hand and plenty of eggs) and maybe with a rice side dish of some kind, believe I could do something Asian with some peas, minced carrot. I don't think I can come up with an interesting salad without going to the store and I don't want to go to the grocery store ;0) So, dinner plans are still a little bit vague but I know we'll eat....

Only 1:30p in the afternoon here, supper not until around 4pm. or so; but I'm thinking pizza tonight - from the local drive-thru, not homemade. That is if I can drag myself out into the cold. brrrrr.

What's for dinner?

I have not a clue. And reading the previous post didn't help as much as I'd hoped. I dislike broccoli, tuna, green beans and quiche. The bacon won't be ready to be smoked until Wednesday. Our pizza place is a 2 hour drive RT. The chicken soup is frozen, so maybe....But I was planning on saving that for the next rainy weather patch. I have some ham available. I have some leftover beef, so maybe baked chimichangas. The non-changa eater can have the ham. Ok. That is the way we might go. Thanks for your help! ;)

Shrimp egg foo young with steamed broccoli.

Leftover chicken and dumplings from dinner last night. One of the few meals I cook that I actually enjoy the leftovers just as much as the first night :-) And I'm sure everyone will turn up their nose at this but I will also be having leftover cranberry jello with sliced bananas and mandarin oranges in it. Yes, I am a jello fan but only certain flavors (cranberry and raspberry, chiefly) and only with fruit mixed in.

Rhizo, there you go with the egg foo young again!! I love that stuff - my favorite AmChinese dish - and it is so hard to find around here. And I have never found a homemade recipe that tastes as good as take-out. If you were closer, I'd be inviting myself for dinner...... :-)

No pizza, too cold to go out.

I had beef,spinach, and cheese ravioli (frozen, but I put it in the boiling water so kind of homemade-ha), garlic toast and asparagus.

Rhizo, I've been craving the egg foo young and pork fried rice that a local restaurant used to serve. I've never had it as good any place else. I can't make it as well and it was standard comfort food for years. The gravy served with the foo young was really brown pork gravy and not that dreadful transparent red sauce.

The restaurant had a fire about the time the owners were nearing retirement age. They didn't rebuild and have since passed. I've tracked down their son to a city a couple of hundred miles from here - about 2 years older than DH and have been trying to become brave enough to call him (or talk DH into it ;0)) to ask if he has his parents recipes. He might just remember DH.

DH had leftover Tator Tot Hotdish and I had leftover Chicken Noodle soup with homemade noodles.

I was running late for work because I did NOT want to get out of bed this afternoon. So I ran by McDonalds and got 2 Mcdoubles. I took the buns off and gave them to my "stepchildren." (The feral cats that linger around) I ate them with a knife and fork, and drank a Diet Strawberry Guava Coke. Not ideal but I am not hungry anymore..... I've got 11 and a half more hours to go. Maybe SO will bring me something better later.

Probably burgoo. Made a big pot the other day and have leftovers.

For dinner last night I had 3 adults and a 4 month old baby. Well, not literally. High winds on Sunday resulted in many power outages here. Thankfully, I did not loose power, so daughter and 2 of her friends plus the baby spent the day here. I ordered 2 large gourmet pizzas and salad to go with to the tune of $65.00 and we enjoyed every bite of it!

$65!!! I am sooooooooooo out-of-touch when it comes to eating out prices. We spend $34-$38 on groceries. I run to the store if I need Kaiser buns, so they're fresh....$1.19/4. Then a cat food order to Chewy once a month.

$65 to feed 4 for dinner is cheap!! It is $15-20 for breakfast and $25+ for lunch (with tax and tip) just for me at a non-fast food, sit down restaurant, even if take-out!! I eat out for dinner much less often unless with friends or family but anywhere that served four adults for $65 is almost unheard of!!

Well, I see blue sky out there this morning! Still minus 12, with the wind chill. Static is making me crazy, hair flying every which way, dresses clinging to my legs, getting a shock at everything I touch ...

Meatloaf, mac and cheese, and spinach tonight.

We sometimes pick up a pizza on $5/Fridays. I'm soooooooooooooooooo disconnected to real prices....ya gotta laugh...

Lordy....I can't even manage groceries for one on that slim a budget!! Just picking up a few odds and ends will result in a $35-50 tab at the register!!

I'm sure there is a huge regional impact. The PNW has a pretty high cost of living and everything is more expensive here.

Part of it is Nicole too. She just seems to have the gift of finding amazing bargains, like some of the gorgeous furniture finds she has shown.

The $65 included a $12 tip for the driver. These were extra large 8 slices each pizzas and each loaded with goodies. The Greek salads, were excellent. I have never before experienced such well appointed salads from a Pizza place. We ordered 3, each would serve at least 3 people. There were 3 large packets of Greek dressing included and 6 packets of croutons. Had one full salad container left over that will be served here tonight. Was also 2 slices of pizza left, but DH and I just ate them for lunch. All considered, I didn't think the price was overboard.

I had some leftover ham, a carrot and green beans with a flour tortilla. Nothing was really calling out to me to be cooked. I think today will be some canned (and somewhat doctored) pea soup.
