backsplash help!

I need to decide on my backsplash soon, but I am struggling with my choices. Actually I can’t seem to find exactly what I want -pretty darn close but not exactly. I lean soft/warm contemporary and am very pleased with our choices thus far, but I’m a little nervous about killing it all with this next choice! I’m Looking for something neutral yet warm. Not too much pattern or movement as our Cambria counters have quite a bit of movement in them and we also have a subtle pattern in our laminate cabinetry. I was originally stuck on Chevron it’s still a contender but I’m not stuck on it. I’m including a few photos with some recent sample options.
My latest obsession has been this linen/subtle basket weave 12x24 tile. My tile gal tells me a decorator she works with has been using it quite successfully and that it looks amazing running 24 inches vertically. I’m pressing her for some photos as I’m struggling to imagine it with the grout lines even if they’re tight. I’m also considering a linear irregular mosaic, but can’t find exactly what I want. My second pic of my samples are the linear mosaics pictured in two versions of taupe. The picture is a little deceiving because they are mounted on a black board, so it looks as if they have black grouting which would be very cool, but I would not be doing that. Last but important to note, I’m looking for very clean lines and can only work with porcelain or ceramic and I’m pretty insistent on Matt finish Any sound thoughts appreciated

The herringbone Pattern fights with

the movement of your countertops to me. Your countertops are so pretty.

The samples you show are alright ... but I think your kitchen calls for something a bit more unique and sophisticated. Have to cook dinner right now, but will come back later!

All samples are nice. The large piece comes in two colors? The largest you have seems too gray for the counter and cabinets. If it comes in a warmer version, then it should work. I do like the small rectangular ones...not sure I would use them in the kitchen, but they are beautiful.

I do like the white herringbone tile..it's long and slim and I think it would look nice in a modern kitchen.

That's an awesome idea. Lots of color, texture, robust surface for grime, etc. I'd glue 'em down using a siliconized latex adhesive caulk. (Siliconized latex caulk has more adhesion than plain latex caulk, but is much more removable later than pure silicon caulk. An example is a product called White Lightning 3006) Run a generous bead on the inside half inch edge and a zig zag down the middle then press firmly against the wall, checking that they don't shift. This will hold them fine but is also removable later with care. Just make sure the back sides are clean, for the adhesion.

Here is what the white brick in the WOW cottage collection looks like installed as a backsplash. It is more matte/satin than glossy and the countertop is soapstone, more like your inspo photos, not a white countertop as you have.

You don’t worry about the backsplash until you select your counter. Once you select your counter than it’s easier to search for images with YOUR counter, white cabinets, wood floors, etc. floor selection, counter, then cabinet and wall paint and then backsplash. That order. Don’t deviate.

Could you use the same counter material for the backsplash?

First of all, your kitchen is beautiful! Modern and warm at a time! Your backsplash choices are okay but nothing that jumps out to me as perfect. I do like the small rectangular tiles. But why don’t you consider a. Same material as countertops, or b. Custom back painted glass? How about large format porcelain slab that complementa your counters with minimal seams?

Thanks for all the thoughts-everything helps! I like the slab idea and am now looking for samples for that. Personally I would have loved to have had the Cambria run continually up to meet the cabinets, but I was trying to stay reasonable $$ And I actually believed that having another material to pick would be fun because there is sooo much cool stuff to choose from anymore, I thought it would be one more element of artist it representation!! Ha! Ironically it has now become my nemesis. Another option I’m slightly curious about is the painted glass, I don’t see me doing the glass panels in large format, I feel it’s just a little too contemporary for this house, but now I’m wondering about the glass tiles? I wouldn’t go too small and no beveling, but I’m wondering if I would feel the need to clean them constantly? We were shooting for a matte finish since we get direct sunlight from the south, lots of light in here. I did not want to be a slave to cleaning my backsplash Another thought I had was larger format slabs, subtle coloring, think concrete look, with a slight gold grouting I briefly saw a flash of it somewhere and it was the coolest looking thing?... also worth noting our Cambria is slightly gold veined and my hardware is brushed gold .... I will try to add a photo. My contractor is going to kill me I promised him I would have this resolved by the weekend last weekend! I am more confused than ever now- yikes!

Worth Noting I would go very light with the concrete look rather than the dark going on in the gold veining photo.

Both options would work. I do like that last one. It's random enough and the color seems to go well with your counter and cabinets

I hate the linen look tile. too much w/your beautiful choices.

I like your stacked subways, but would do a slightly larger tile.

Or, this:

I love your kitchen!! I would keep it simple as you already have a lot going on with the texture in the cabinets, the movement in the counters. I’d just do white subway - I like the stacked suggestion because it is more modern.

Wow, what beautiful elements! I do love the idea of the subway with gold inlay, if you’re bold enough to do it! Otherwise I agree stacked subways would be great too. Please post finished photos!

Very nice kitchen. I would go with a large scale stacked subway. I usually like high gloss, but I think matte will be great here. You don't need the added texture because you cabinets add that.
