Family Room/Help with completion
Comments (1)You need coffee tables in both spaces. I'd go for glass top tables with metal legs since the upholstered pieces are visually dense....See MoreFamily Room Help
Comments (3)It looks like this is the mud room as well as the main living area. It won't look nice until you find a way to organize stuff. One: tidy up. Two: add a rug. Three: replace the family photos above the fireplace with some art. Three: add a rug. Four: replace the end tables and coffee table with more contemporary pieces. Four: tidy up....See MoreTwo-story family room help
Comments (6)I think it will be just fine. As others have mentioned, it may initially feel a little empty because you're used to having such a large piece there. But even with 2 story rooms, it's ok to not to decorate all the way to the ceiling. One suggestion though: consider bringing your seating are a little closer together centered on the fireplace. Right now the sofa and the chair look really far from eachother and the sofa looks a bit far from the TV too and not even touching the rug. It's ok to have furniture floating together in the room. Comments (4)Am I correct that you usually only watch TV in here and don't visit with guests in this space? If so, your current layout makes sense to me. I'd get a second 3-seater sofa for under the window instead of a love seat and ditch the recliner chair. I'd get furniture that is a lot less bulky looking. Place one large piece of artwork on the angled wall and get rid of the little console table there. The wood mantle and tiles are really beautiful but get lost now. They should be a focal point of the room. Go with furniture and artwork colors that pick up on the tile in the fireplace surround. Then eventually paint the built-in and walls a more neutral tone that plays off of the fireplace tile too....See Moredsh15
