Good for you! Love the internet to find information quickly. There are some things I still love my paper reference books for (like identifying bugs and weeds in my garden). Then again I don’t usually need that information in a hurry.

Good for you but being me I would have looked for other distributors of the same product line and asked the company to have them honor the price rather than returning to that store. I have said no when a company did something similar to me. I might also send a snail mail letter to corporate office outlining what happened. Telling someone on the phone is one thing sometimes a letter with a cc to the appropriate government office AG and Secretary of States office.

You've heard me say here several times that, while it may reduce the blood pressure some to post such complaints here - such actions don't accomplish much, either in terms of obtaining a better result for the one feeling aggrieved, or in encouraging the offender to mend their ways.

Your action would accomplish about three or four possible/probable results.

1. Much improved transaction for you. (Did you get the colour that you wanted?).

2 a. The company felt the need to reverse an unfair, which they may know to be fraudulent, offer of sale,

b. another example of customers being unsatisfied, letting them know, and sullying their corporate reputation.

3. The state regulatory agency is aware of their unfair/illegal practice.

4. The company is aware that such practices of theirs is on the radar of the regulators/prosecutors.

Maifleur01 I did look on the internet for another distributor. The others stores that carried the love seat was in different states and the one place that I could order on-line was out of stock. I order off the internet for a lot of things, but certain items I like to use brick and mortar stores. I want to question real people, feel the product and try out the product. Then I go home and research the product before returning to buy it. I want them to deliver it and set it up into my living room and I would like to inspect it before signing off on it. I didn't want it dropped off in my driveway. What got my dander up was being given one price only for them to turn around and change it and it was the first love seat I found that I liked. Maybe they will think again before they try that tactic on someone else.

joyfulguy, yes I got the color I wanted. Thank you I just think it is awesome that all this information is at our fingertips. Before the internet we went off blind faith and a salesman word on a product. It isn't as easy as it was before to rip people off.

The internet most certainly makes information, misinformation, and disinformation available in seconds. As far as your problem is concerned, back to the years before the internet was widely available and used, I think retail personnel were not so dumb, were more engaged and better informed, and were less indifferent overall than they are today.

An employee properly trained, motivated and managed to work for customer satisfaction can do what's needed without referring to their PC or store information system. A dunderhead who could care less will lead you up a creek without a paddle with even the best of supervision and reference tools.

Sammy, it is not a swear word it is a description. We older ladies have changed diapers, trained puppies, and cleaned bathrooms for decades.

We are not going to put up with salesmen who overcharge and we are not going to put up with you trying to tear our sister down.

Sammy, yes I sometimes when I am very mad i use sh_t or d_m. I am far from perfect and have my flaws, but the post you were referring to was the use of the crude F word constantly in public with mixed company. And even if the program allows I never actually spell out the whole swear word out.

I'm having some trouble with your "d_m", though: when I drop in an "a", I get one of those things constructed in a river to hold back water, which may become a four-letter word if your house is on floodplain further downstream when it breaks!

Dropping in a "u" seems rather meaningless, unless one adds a "b" at the end, then doesn't fit.

To add an "i" might have some meaning, but seems rather marginal.

In my experience when used as a curse, sometimes teamed up with a word related to deity, but only when one adds an "n" at the end. But then it becomes another four letter word, doesn't fit your program!

That was awesome. I have to say-- I am almost more impressed that you got people and information (and ACTION) via the phone. I am never that lucky with the phone. I do use email a lot in those instances and I do find things may get resolved but never as quickly as yours. so WELL DONE!

Salonva, I only used the phone to talk to a rep at the Attorney Generals office. I used email to contact the furniture store head honchos. Yes, I found out in the past for certain things talking to a customer service rep is useless. They only can read off a script.
