I did 2 things I've never done before!

#1 Went out to lunch on Sat in Baltimore and had a Bison Burger. The menu said "lower fat then grilled chicken but just as tasty as a burger"! It did taste A LOT like regular beef, just less greasy, maybe a tad dry, but good and the lower fat is a HUGE plus!

#2 I've noticed a place near my DH's office that I thought was crazy at first, but I checked it out. A drive thru Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins! Got a scoop of Chocolate Chip (my FAV!) in a cup, but they do serve cones! Seems like that would be hard to drive with-lol. They have about 10 of their most popular flavors, not all 31.

I did it before (30 years ago), but I am taking horseback riding lessons again. I am having a ball!
Hubby orders buffalo whenever he can.

Teresava, that's brave of you trying bison meat. There's a restaurant in my hometown, Clarence NY that had two unusual meats on their menu last time I was there-bison and ostrich! I didn't feel brave, I left wondering what they were like. When I was in New Orleans about 20 years ago, I ate turtle and rattlesnake meat. It's true, they taste like chicken!

LOL Suzy. Yay for all the cooking. Way to go. Buttercream.......slurp. Good on a cake, better off your finger or a spatula or bowl, or beater. LOL. I'm overdue for some. Darn diabetes makes it a very infrequent addition to our diet. Good thing it freezes pretty well, since I usually freeze at least half the cake, sometimes 3/4. Robin, you did good to get your Sis to do that job. Grass that long is not for the beginner. Smiles. Even starting mowers that have been sitting since last season can be a pain and require a new spark plug at the least. LOL Lilo, Mowses. Love it. I love my lawn tractor. I call it riding the grass. It's my favorite. I often have people offer to do that for me. NOOOO. Use the push mower for the hill, weed, anything but ride MY grass. Even when I'm so crippled up I can barely get to the garage, that's my reward for making it out there. Krista, I have changed a radiator. Admittedly a long time ago. Not super hard but get ready for some swearing since it's in such a tight place it's usually hard to get at the bolts and such. Also, it depends on what else is hooked to it, like the water pump and such, how hard it is to get out... and in. I bought a rebuilt one so saved a lot of money by doing it myself. Then again, I've changed the heads on a car. That requires you to have a working torque wrench. Those darn bolts can be torqued right off. LOL..The guys at the parts store didn't believe me. Said they're hardened steel. OOpps.. I'm not big on shelled things like oyster, mussels, clams. Think I've only tried clams raw once. I'm told I prepare them all quite well though. I've never eaten sushi. Never rode a unicycle. Wink. Never been our of the contiguous USA. Never had a professional manicure or pedicure, nor hair dye.

(1) Home-made mac & cheese with roast chicken (2d dish) & maybe a salad (and a succotash could be nice). (2) Chili? Popular -- can be done with beef, chicken or ground turkey, fresh corn bread on the side is quick and easy to do in volume. Corn on the cob -- halved maybe. A salad -- nothing time sensitive if you're concerned about cooking for a crowd and not accustomed to it. (3) Pasta -- easy to do batches on the pasta itself and a nice basic fresh sauce is easy -- saute chopped/minced carrots, celery, onion and a sweet red pepper in olive oil, for a few minutes, then add chopped garlic for a minute, then the tomatoes (good canned tomatoes are way better than bad fresh ones, although if you have good fresh ones at volume that's terrific -- 3/4 in the food processor and 1/4 chopped or cubed). Kosher salt, a little pepper. Some white wine a couple of minutes before the end. It's easy to augment this with meatballs or pan cooked sausages for people who want meat (chicken -- any meat that seems right). Good bread, a nice salad, maybe some oven-roasted asparagus . . . easy meal for 10 or 20 or 30.

You should have a helper,someone to mark where you want the hem to be shortened to.It's hard to do this yourself while wearing it.They can also pin in how much you need it to be taken in. I take it you do know how to sew,is that correct??What kind of fabric is it,and is there a lot or any embellishments on it that have to be taken into consideration?? Good luck Kathi

If it helps, traditionally, the stocks are struck in the field in summer to fall of one year, then budded the following summer. I have rooted stocks over winter and budded them a few months after they have been potted and show vigorous growth. I have also budded scions to stocks which were several years old and previously unused. I have also budded scions to seedlings, both those raised the year they were budded as well as many which were several years old. The only real "requirements" are the stock must be at least as thick as the wood from which the scion is removed, or thicker; and the stock must be in vigorous growth, showing a lot of new growth being pushed. That alerts you that there is good sap flow, permitting the bark to lift more easily and to maintain the scion with sufficient sap flow until the two pieces knit together when the stock will support it as it does any of its own growth. If your goal is to produce a "commercial" budded plant, you probably only want one or two scions per stock, budded on opposite sides from the other. If you're practicing budding and as long as the scions take, the number of scions inserted in the stock is only limited by how much room you need to bud them to the stock. I've successfully inserted a dozen scions in a long whip with them all taking. The advice above is also good. You don't want to destroy the stock and doom any potentially successful scions above the mangled section. If your goal is to establish a rose in your collection, keeping several long, rooted whips around, ready for budding, can help. I had budded Souv. de Therese Levet to a seedling, then accidentally ripped the more vigorous growth from the stock. The remaining growth and seedling died, but I was able to insert seven buds from that separated growth into a long whip of a seedling, with all seven succeeding. If you're going to the Heirloom Expo, Jeri has an own root, virus indexed IXL and a virus indexed De la Grifferaie she picked up from me yesterday on her way up. Both root easily and have been treated and tested by UC Davis to insure they aren't infected with RMV. Both would make excellent stock mother plants to root succeeding generations of stocks from, and both root fairly easily. Both, like Pink Clouds, can either be "T" or chip budded. Chip budding is the easiest and fastest method for home use. As long as the scion material is in good shape, I average nearly 100% take with chip budding. Good luck!

I like to taste new things off of someone else's plate before I order something new. LOL!

I love fried Oysters and Baked Oyster Fondue, but not raw Oysters. I recently tried one. It was OK, but I'll save that for when I'm on a "Survivor Show". LOL!

It took forever for me to try Maui Maui, but I love it now.

Had bbq bison while at Philmont, NM. So good I had two.
I have grilled bison burgers, before.

Always eat ice cream from a cup instead of a cone.

Bison is GOOD! Good for you too. Low fat and low cholesterol...course as young as you are you probably don't have to worry about that yet! LOL
DD#2 works in the office of a bison processing plant, they get generous meat credits and we have ate lots of bison since she started there. Thats my only "brave or new" thing I have done in the past couple years! LOL Bison prime rib, bison tenderloin, burger, ribeye steaks, ummm seems to me I am missing something.

There's not a lot of risk associated with trying bison.

Bison does taste a lot like beef - but less fatty.

So many combo places here like Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts, Church's Chicken/Long John Silvers, Taco Bell/Kentucky Fried Chicken. I thought they were weird at first, too. I have two Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts within two miles of me. Don't go as often as I'd like.

Nothing new here. Just the same ole.....

Good for you! Trying new things is (almost) always good.

Well, last week I attended the first meeting of a new group forming around the concepts of positive thinking and the law of attraction. That was a first. And in April I'm going to conduct a one-hour class on beginning digital photography at a Senior Fair. And in May I start teaching eBay classes at the library.

Hey, let's not forget my new haircut! :-)

Through most of the year I have a landscaping business. In the early spring I help at my brothers greenhouse.
Winters are very slow. This year I worked as a substitute teacher in the Rochester school system. I have never done anything like that before. I enjoyed it. I spent a week in an Emotional Behavior Disorder classroom. Wow. I spent just one day assisting a teacher in an elementary school teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester they get kids from all over. Something like 75 kids in the ESOL program at this elementary school (K-5) representing 27 different countries. I had a little 2nd grader that insisted on teaching me how to write his name in Hebrew; his family moved here from Israel in November. It was a great experience this Winter.
