This news has really saddened me. She was my swap buddy and sent me 3 glass pieces she made and I use them often. I will think of how funny and full of life she was every time I use them. We had a great time on that trip to Gatlinburg TN and I'll hold those memories in my heart. Rest in Peace, Linda. You will be missed.

OH!!!! I loved reading Linda's posts and she had some wonderful recipes. I always liked her screen name and of course assumed she was an avid canoer. RIP Linda.

Yes, I knew Linda had passed away, but didn't post because I knew Peppi was corresponding with her daughter before she posted this.

Sherry and I met her in Chicago once, and visited her daughter and granddaughter, and she spent a few days at my house during The Michigan Run. She was hysterically funny, sharp as a tack, loved her grandchildren endlessly and lit up everything around her. I'll always remember her sitting in my living room, drinking her homemade limoncello and telling jokes with that unmistakable Minnesota accent, joking with Sherry's husband, Roger, who is sadly also gone.

The world is a little darker with her gone.

I'm so sorry to hear this. She was a valuable member. I still make a number of her recipes.

Sad and gone too soon. I just lost another friend last week, similar circumstances. And my cousin died early this fall also suddenly, here one minute and doing her canning, and gone the next. Always hard to imagine someone so full of zest and life gone. I will miss her, another fellow north country girl.

Yes one of the originals...I am both shocked and sad. Some years back, out of the blue, she sent me a little glass heart pendant she had made....I will treasure it even more.

She brought a lot of positive energy to this group, and contributed endless amount of knowledge.

I have been extremely busy lately, but not busy enough not to make a dish in her honor.

I think Peppi probably knew Linda best, as Linda visited her daughter in Chicago often and Peppi lives there. Although I met with her several times, much of our contact was via email. I remember her telling me about "beaver flicks", a locally made fishing lure. I used to refer to her as "you betcha Linda" to differentiate her from my husband's sister in law, but she asked me to call her "Beaver Flick Linda" instead, saying it sounded like she was a porn star, LOL. We were all hooting so loudly in the living room that Ashley walked in and said in a shocked voice "Mom, you're.......drunk!" I told her I wasn't, but we were being relatively loud, I think the neighbors were wondering about us. I still use her recipe for quiche with a hash brown crust too, and I have some small appetizer sized plates that she made, she was very artistic and several of us have things that she made.

Oh this news is heartbreaking. I can't imagine her gone. She was so vibrant. Great lady and a wonderful contributor...I have so many of her recipes....will make one in her honor tomorrow.

Guess I qualify as one of the old timers, I am so sad to hear about Linda. I've been remembering her since I heard the news last Thursday. She was a great gal, cook and friend. I'll never forget her.

I just remembered that Linda made a perfect little angel many years ago. I've had it hanging in the guest bedroom since I received it from her. So fitting that she is now an angel watching over all of us. .

I never did meet her, but I felt like I knew her, and we did exchange some emails. She was very generous and kind, from what I remember, and I find it difficult to believe that she is gone. I started wondering about this yesterday, however, when someone asked about some of her recipes, and the talk sounded like she was gone, but I couldn't believe it.

Nancy and Karen, I'm so glad "see" you here again, but sad that it takes something like this to bring all us "old" members back together. (sigh) And life keeps changing...

Annie, I so miss the memories that we all shared with each other. My life off of the cooking forum has been so good and busy! I do check in from time to time to catch up on the latest and greatest cooks. ;-) It's so good to see your grands doing well. It goes by so quickly! My Maggie is now 12, Max is 8 and Lette is 7 soon to be 8.

I really need to check in more often. I'm sorry that it takes something like this to bring us back together.

I am so very sad to read this. I remember Linda's canoe trips with friends and the food preps getting ready. I always admired her beautiful glass work. My condolences to her family.

Karen, I too can't believe Maggie is 12 !! Seems yesterday I met her at maybe 3 ? I recall her calling us " Miss Sharon" and " Mr Clive "...blew me away!

Also recall the Monsignor and the power outage......as well as the chorizo stuffed dates at Rattlesnakes.......such great memories of our Rte 66 trip and all the wonderful people we met......sadly never Linda.

Annie, Yes, Linda has brought us all together once again.

Chase, I'll never forget our visit! Ahhhh, those chorizo stuffed dates. I make them on occasion but they are never as good as the ones at Rattlesnakes. Monsignor still stops by without knocking on the door. Always checks the back freezer for his Blue Bell Ice Cream! He is now retired but working harder than ever at the age of 80!

In the south we always call our elders Miss, Mr., Mrs., etc. It's the only way we know how! ;-)

OMG, I'm just reading this...this is sooo sad. Linda was on of my first cooking forum swap buddies and I remember initially thinking her online name was pronounced "doo-can-know" and I didn't understand it until she explained it to me. I remember meeting her at one of the meetups years, and years ago. I'm so sorry to hear, and my heart goes out to her family. :-(
