Back splash and countertop

We are remodeling our kitchen and I am having difficulty choosing a backsplash. I am currently planning to use Quartz countertop on eternal calacatta gold. it's mostly white with grey veins and a little gold/taupe. My cabinets will be a white shaker style. My house is an open floor plan and we have a lot of taupe/brown/beige. The walls are BM Bennington grey, which is a beige color. I have a deep brown accent wall which I will happily re-paint. I am considering navy for that. Do you think this counter top and backsplash will look good?

Are photos of the backsplash tiles the same board? The first looks sooo pink. And what is the brown sample? I don't see navy with Bennington Gray...anything in charcoal would work...this is Kendall Charcoal and the last photo of backsplash looks good.

Keep in mind that is a large pattern in the tile. Do you have enough space between countertop and cabinets to get the pattern? And, where would the cut be?

I just don't see that backsplash tile with the Eternal Calacatta Gold at all.

I think you might want to reconsider that choice. Are you trying to play up the taupe colour in the Calacatta Gold to go with your paint choices etc? If so, then I'd suggest a plainer tile in the taupe colour. It could be ceramic or glass, or even stone.

You can get backsplash made of natural Calacatta Gold marble. I've seen it next to the Silestone and it looks quite nice - not competing at all. I think you could stand a bit of a pattern since your cabinets are white and the counter is quite white too.

If you want something a bit busier, I saw this one the other day, together with brass coloured hardware - it was quite pretty - depends on your kitchen and if the tile might take over and be busy.

As far as a glass tile goes...this taupe colour may not be quite right....but gives you an idea of what might work.

I also like this one with a crackle finish. I think it looks fantastic and really goes a long way to add a bit of colour to both the counters and the cupboards

went shopping again today to look at granite again- this is a granite i fell in love with when we first started looking around a month ago. Decided to go back to it and analyze it more... here's a pic from pinterest that gives a nice idea of how it will look. I think I am going away from the Cambria Canterbury and going back to granite which was our first thought. I think it just looks more rustic. :) Also wondering about a chiseled edge in the granite- I saw a pic and I LOVE it!! heard from the kitchen and granite people today that it is higher maintenance bc of the nature of it... anyone have experience with this? I went on a trip to FL while my bathroom renovation was being done. I had picked out everything at the suppliers recommended by my contractor, left diagrams on where I wanted the knobs installed on the vanity, etc. etc. I tried to think of every last detail. While I'm gone, I get a phone pic from the contractor of the backsplash that he had just installed. The pic was very grainy, but the tile looked way darker than I remembered. I called him and said I didn't think it was the right tile. He had picked up the tile from the supplier and he assumed it was what I had selected. I asked if it had any white marble strips in it, and he said no. I said it's not the right tile. Turns out, it was a manufacturer issue -- they had the wrong item number on the back of the tile sample! Just my luck! He wanted me to leave it up rather than have to tear it out and re-install. He said "it matches". Ha, it was horrible! Anyway, I told him to take it out and put the rest on hold until I came back. Just goes to show, you have to be there every step of the way to be sure it's done right. Even the shower curtain rod was installed in a place that I thought was too far in. I took it down and reinstalled it myself.

Thanks a lot for all those inspiration! We liked the small mosaic idea a lot. However, it turns out all the ones we found requires some special ordering (taking 1~2 weeks), and our contractor is coming tomorrow! We probably will settle with what's currently in stock. Still looking! But again thanks for the inspiration photos and suggestions, really helpful!

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to check back in after a year with the stone. It has really grown on me as a feature I love. Cleaning has not been bad. Actually some pasta sauce dumped on wall behind cooktop and it was ok to clean with a scrub brush and water (cleaned right when it happened). Elsewhere, it has been fine after initial clean and seal. Just vacuumed it once with a brush tip. I also want to thank everyone for their opinions, advice, kind words, and - most of all - the encouragement! As a mostly DIYer, I always wanted to design and build a home. This was my first whole-home-reno, and I learned a lot and the encouragement provided by many, including y’all, really helped my confidence. I am very proud to say that the home was entered in NARI Meta / CoTY for whole-home-reno and it won for local-chapter and Southwest region. Thanks again everyone & do not fear stacked stone backsplashes!

this is the navy I had in mind with our current Bennington Grey ( it's actually a goldish taupe) and I also found this backsplash.

JudyG- you are right, the first pic of the backsplash looks really pink! the second picture is more true to the color. Here is the kitchen if anyone has suggestions, I'm struggling!
