Pictures of Desert Gold Pebble Sheen pool?

I'm so confused about the desert gold pebble sheen. Some are very light and natural, and some look so dark and full of algae. What causes this difference, and how do I get the light color water? I'm choosing the pebble sheen color next week. Pictures, please!

I've actually googled a ton, but there are really not that many of desert gold. I understand what causes the differences in pool color: size, depth, surrounding elements, but I'm looking for more actual pictures so I can compare them to the elements in my yard. Thank you for your snark though. Much appreciated.

Thank you all!!! My e-mail is sheri at shweri dot com. Would love any photos. Very appreciative! Is ocean blue darker than midnight blue? I thought they were same. Or do smaller pebbles end up changing color? And thus, is Turtle Bay, which folks here love, loved more than Emerald Bay? Funny, I saw a photo of one, but not labeled. I said, whatever this color is, that's the one I'm going to get. Pebbletec let me know it was Black Pearl. I do love the black ones, but nervous they will be too pondy in some lights. Or affect resale down the road. But they are gorgeous. You all have me sold on abalone! That's one decision down! Ah, that may be why Turtle Bay is seeming loved over Emerald Bay! Turtle Bay has enough I don't need to add any, right? Thank you again. You guys have been more help than PebbleTec, builder, and PT installer! And thanks natural_one for the offer of photos! sheri

We had a pool built last year and chose a Pebble Tec finish. I am now so sorry we did. I wish we'd saved the $$$ and had just gone for the old fashioned plaster finish. I'm 62 and use the pool for aqua exercises for my arthritis, and part of my routine is to walk MANY steps back and forth in the pool. The first few days I did this, the bottoms of my feet ended up RAW. At first I didn't make the connection. But finally on about the 3rd day, I realized it was from the surface of the pool. My feet were so sore I could hardly walk on them. My feet are not that sensitive. I walk around barefoot all day when I'm home. I now wear either water shoes or mesh shower shoes in the pool. I thought maybe I could "toughen up" the bottoms of my feet, but the few times I've tried to go in barefoot since the beginning, I can feel the irritation, and end up putting my shoes back on.

We went with pebble sheen. We were originally going to do just Aqua Blue. After viewing a few pools that were Aqua Blue we didn't like the way the color on the shallow steps looked. Really grey and to me really took away from the rest of the pools Aqua color. No mater what color we choose for the pool the step and shallow area of the pool has a grey or green color. That's not the look I was going for so we decided on Desert Gold for all the shallow areas and steps and Blue Granite for the rest of the pool. Couldn't be happier with our decision. Only shade, sun, LIGHT and the bottom of the pool will change the "color" of water. Or a glitch in water maintenance. There will be no pictures of the exact conditions in your back yard. Ask your installer, as he will have seen many conditions, and will probably be your best advice. ON SITE in your own yard.

i would suspect that to be an “iffy” Color. I’ve seen some unattractive pool colors that look algae ridden even though maintenance was not the issue. I would select only after I’ve seen it on a pool in person . Colors will change depending upon the depth, in addition to light, the steps in my pool look very light, almost white while the rest of the pool appears more acqua / light blue.

You cannot choose a pool interior color by looking at photos on your computer. Your color calibration could be off, etc. You really should go look at some pools in person, and if possible, at varying times of the day.
