how rough is pebble tec vs pebble sheen
Comments (8)Pebble Tec is not rough because, as the OP stated, the stones are tumbled. The stones in Pebble Sheen are much smaller, also tumbled, but in addition the Pebble Sheen is buffed before the pool is filled with water. We have Black Onyx Pebble Sheen and love it. The texture of the Pebble Sheen is very much like a basketball or football. To really choose between larger/smaller stones, you absolutely should have your pool builder or plaster company take you to at least one pool with the larger stones and at least one pool with the smaller stones. Be prepared to take your shoes off and step into the pools, so you can tell what it feels like underfoot....See MorePebbleTec isn't guaranteeing the shells in the sheen anymore?!
Comments (17)By aggressive chemistry, I am referring to acidic water conditions. Many pool builders add a lot of acid on the initial pool start up to help keep the plaster dust under control. If you have pebble tec, there is usually not a lot of that plaster dust, and therefore no need to add a lot of acid. Probably why your shells are still in good condition. I think your shells will remain in good condition as long as no one adds a lot of acid to the pool. And by acid I mean Muriatic/Hydrochloric used to lower the PH. P.S. I also have them in my pool and they look great, problem I have, as an installer is that once we leave the job, I have no control over who does what to the pool, and when there is an issue, guess who they call and expect to warranty it? I have never seen abalone shells lose their shine or become dull, only stain the surrounding plaster around where they lie. Hope this helps..:)...See MoreNeed help w/ PebbleTec/PebbleSheen color dilemma
Comments (13)Thank you all!!! My e-mail is sheri at shweri dot com. Would love any photos. Very appreciative! Is ocean blue darker than midnight blue? I thought they were same. Or do smaller pebbles end up changing color? And thus, is Turtle Bay, which folks here love, loved more than Emerald Bay? Funny, I saw a photo of one, but not labeled. I said, whatever this color is, that's the one I'm going to get. Pebbletec let me know it was Black Pearl. I do love the black ones, but nervous they will be too pondy in some lights. Or affect resale down the road. But they are gorgeous. You all have me sold on abalone! That's one decision down! Ah, that may be why Turtle Bay is seeming loved over Emerald Bay! Turtle Bay has enough I don't need to add any, right? Thank you again. You guys have been more help than PebbleTec, builder, and PT installer! And thanks natural_one for the offer of photos! sheri...See MoreHere Are the Majestic Plum PebbleTec Photos! Finally!
Comments (32)Hi there, have not been on in a loooong time! Sdkath: do you still need the photos? I can probably dig some up if you do. The whole pool photo here where the water is riplling a lot is a good approximation. I have noticed that the shallow end water is slightly bluer in the summer (as shown in that photo) than it is in the winter when all the surrounding foliage and colors are gone; in the winter it is a shade cooler, a bit gray, absolutely NO GREEN. We keep the pool open all year not to swim, just for the aesthetics. Hate those black covers ugh, and my pool sparkles all winter long. kgolby: We have NO REGRETS AT ALL!!! Love it more all the time. Love that the color is just a bit differentthan everyone elses, too. Love that when we have people over they look at our pool and say, "I thought Pebble pools only came in black or Tahoe?" Because all you EVER see around here are those 2 colors. It is just a fantastic color, I could not be happier and I only wish my pool refinisher would tell people about it and let them come and see my pool. I am convinced it is the name "Majestic Plum" that flips people out. iswim: i will submit it, I just don't have a completely pristine photo yet where there are no toys, dogs, or hoses in the photo! :-) My pool is a 30+ year old pool, and the PebbleTec and flagstone updated it miraculously!...See Moretypea
