Even though they are not all that attractive, what about just purchasing the slider vertical blinds (from Lowes/Home Depot)? I don't know how much money your daughter wants to invest, since she's renting-unless she's staying long term. The blinds will serve their purpose well, are affordable, will allow as much or as little light in as your daughter desires, and will give her complete privacy as well. You can always dress them up with a swag of fabric on top. Just a thought.

Hello! Here is mine. I need them because my dining area is west facing, so we get direct sun glare around dinner time. Mine are hung from rings and they easily move back and forth.

Although wood blinds would look phenomenal, it is true that they can be tricky to outfit sliding doors!! Drapery would frame this perfectly. If you are dead set on the wood look, you could always do a shutter style blind that is mounted on the OUTSIDE instead. I think drapery would look really clean cut with a white/patterned look.

Can you share a picture of the space? Do you have room for pulling back the curtain panels when they aren't being used? I like most of the the advice in this graphic about hanging curtains. Make sure your curtains are full, don't unnecessarily cover the windows and trim. I don't agree that curtains should go up to the ceiling, sometimes they look jammed up there.
