Depends on the budget, but I would put slider/plantation shutters on that slider door. Takes up less room than drapery and more control over light. With all the heavy, bulky furniture, I would try eliminating one piece and adding a chair if that seating is even needed. You didn't ask about that, but puffy furniture gives a cramped feeling to most spaces. If the budget doesn't allow for this sliding glass door plantation shutter arrangement, then keep drapery very simple and don't use grommet style because they take up 6-8" of additional space in the room to slide back and forth. Hello Catherine, have you thought of contacting a place like Budget Blinds or 3 day blinds? We have a window that requires a special treatment and I contacted both these companies. Both offer free consultations, their companies offered different solutions, and brought up things I never would have thought of. The cost was more than if I had gone to Ikea and bought some panels, but I am very happy with the end result!

As the room is under construction, perhaps you shouldn't do anything until you live with them for awhile. Personally, I wouldn't cover the doors -- I like as much light as possible -- and anything you installed could interfere with the cabinet just to the right. -- amateur

I would use a roman shade on the window, mounted at the ceiling to retain the most light when open. Get one with a blackout lining. A roman shade allows you to open the window even if the shade is partially down. For the sliders, I think drapes are best. Mount the rod just below the soffit, and extend it on either side of the doors, so you have room for the drapes to hang out of the way. If you use good quality fabric, again with linings, you can have great light and climate control.
