Meeting Builder What about out requirements?
Comments (11)Our GC had a wonderful exercise for us. His assignment even before we met was to have DH & me write out our top 20 items/ideas for the house (in order of importance). We did this seperarately w/o knowing each other's top 20. We then brought this list to GC on our first meeting. This enabled him to get the big picture. We also took these lists to the architect. Along with this list, was a photo of what we desired & a layout we thought we liked. As the process has developed, all of our smaller, nitpicky items have come out. GC has appreciated the thought process that I've put into it all. He said it has made everything move smoothly. In the end, I will have less daily choices to make. Although I did SO much research prior to all of our meetings, I have welcomed GC's ideas & knowledge, as well. Afterall, we are hiring him for his skills, knowledge, & expertise. He has been doing this 30+ years & I have only just recently begun this process. I definitely would not go into this seeming like a total know-it-all or you will make GC's life quite unpleasant. Also, in all honesty, about 90% of our desires for our home, GC had already planned for, so I would really be looking for the best GC you can find....See MoreMy 'Woodsy' Holiday Decor has begun!
Comments (15)Thanks, Holiday-ers! Yes, rafor, I do try to decorate for 'Winter' ... I keep it up til early March usually (when I am craving for Spring! I love 'snowmen & snowladies' & deer. The Nativity & Santa's I put away after the New Year. punk...the window box I've tried about everywhere in my house! I am sad that it did not fit on treadle sewing machine in the LR ...but it is 30" tall (22 wide)...so then I couldn't hang up that big old window w/B&W old Christmas family pics. I've worked at that window box this past yr buying the Old World Santa after sales...finding that slim tree this Fall & a brass rocking horse toy for in the box & painted over some ornies..so will have to keep looking for the perfect spot. It was too crowded by the tree & just didn't jive, I guess. ;-) nana...'tote' heaven, isn't it! I hate the mess of those plastic bins sitting around! ;-) & PM, I don't have a 'Jazz' living w/me...tee hee! I know you have a new puppy, too! Jeanne S....See MoreAluminum Screened Enclosures

Comments (2)Thank you for your response. I agree. The roof needs fixed, first. I'm working on acquiring a new technology white and/or aluminum rubber sheeting for that section, which I will extend clear up to the next level. I am really considering Peel and Stick, since reviews are almost all enthusiastically positive. This section is 4' x 12'. Any opinions on that? Forecasts are to that we won't be above 50° until early May (ugh!). In the meantime, I have applied a clear plastic sheet to the inside overhang, which allows me to see if it's still leaking. We are forecasted to have four days of rain this week, so I should be able to spot the leaks. Do you know of anything other than a rubber sheet that could be applied at lower temperatures? I can't afford to hire anyone to do this, so it's on me and maybe a couple of grown grandsons. I have trees on the entire right side of the house, by the way. Small to medium sized branches fall on the roof, from time to time. The rest of the roof was coated with a thick rubber sheet a few years ago, before I bought the place. I have had no leaks, elsewhere, thank goodness. They didn't apply anything to this section, for some reason....See Moretoddinmn
