mdev: Be CAREFUL with BM Hawthorne Yellow! Several years ago I painted our master bedroom that color, wanting a warm creamy look and it came out looking like Big Bird had splattered on my walls. No kidding. I kept holding the swatch up to the paint, and it was right on target. It just looked calmer and creamier on the swatch than the walls. I recently had my dining and den painted BM Dunmore Cream and it came out beautiful...much creamier than Hawthorne Yellow....I guess I should've paid attention to the "yellow" in the name. Also, if you're looking for a beautiful blue, try BM Woodlawn Blue. I saw a room done in this color in Trad. Home magazine, paired with accessories in a seafoam green,khakis and creams....I painted my son's bedroom this color, did the trim in a cream (dont know the color, my painter mixed it for me)and I've ordered paisley curtains and shams with a lot of camel, khaki, green and blue. The bed skirt is being done in a blue diamond pattern with khaki thread running through it. When everything is delivered and up, I'll post a picture for you, but that will be in May sometime. It might be worth buying a quart to see if you like Woodlawn Blue. I couldn't be happier with the results!

I would definitely go more blue than I would gray. I think it would be beautiful with the black furniture. I can picture a room that someone on here did, but I can't remember if they used blue or green on the walls. I remember they had black furniture and they had a four poster bed. Does anyone know who I'm talking about. I think the style was a little on the contemporary side, but I'm not positive. Laurie

Alrighty... I have been to JC Penny's (and a dz other stores) and am having trouble finding the right shade of grey. BUT- I have had no trouble finding blues!!!!! Would it be possible to bring blue into this room with window treatments and maybe a rug? These WT are from JC Penny's... they are not the right length, I just brought them home for color. It's a blue/grey... WDYT? Wide, just so you can see the color. and here they are more "closed" which is how I would hang them. I'm a little concerned they look "random"... like, where did I get the blue from? Thoughts? Also- we got our triple dresser. And *shudder* we got a new TV. We are not a big TV family (in fact, we just went from 1 TV to 2) but I like to watch the news as I get ready.... I know, I know... many of you are cringing. So am I. Until I get to watch the Today Show in the morning... I am feeling much more informed! ;) It's a beast. I also got a cute little (faux) orchid on clearence at Target. WDYT? How else do I decorate this wall (this is opposite the bed.)

Are you going with a coastal theme as the bed cover is coastal. As you don’t want to paint the furniture I would paint the walls. I think a coral would be nice. Would the settee fit in the space where you have the dresser now as I would switch out those two items. I don’t think you need the white bench. A nice room size rug and some art work and a plant would pull the room together.
