Hello,

Here is my gray/blue color. It is SW Steely Gray. Sometimes it looks blue and sometimes it looks gray! I have shown it below in a bedroom (the room is empty except for my smiling face as it was the day we took possession of our home). The only window in the room is the one you see. I've also attached a pic of my sons bathroom in the same color. I have mixed it with black and red. Again I have it in an office. I have found that if I mix it with blues, it looks more blue, if I pair it with gray and black, it will look gray. Notice how it looks with the blue chairs, and then how it looks next to the grays in the shower curtain.

You know there are plenty of threads dedicated to pictures of blues and greys in the gallery side of the forum, right?

For a dark room, you might want to stick a color that has an LRV (light reflective value) of 55-65 or so. This is usually the second or maybe third color down on a paint strip. SW strips 34-37 would be worth a look. I have Misty (strip 34) in a dark bathroom and Krypton (strip 36) in a somewhat brighter bedroom. They do not look pastel/nursery at all.

We used BM Gentle Gray in our master. It is very much on the blue side. It is the same color as Restoration Hardware's Atmospheric blue. Someone on here suggested Behr's Light French Gray. I loved the swatch, but it was almost silver when I tested it. Keep in mind I have lots of windows, so it might just be the ticket in a darker room. Good luck

Here is BM Riveiera Azure, a grey blue. Not sure how bright you were considering. This color was BHG pick for 2009 top colors in grey blue.

I would definitely go more blue than I would gray. I think it would be beautiful with the black furniture. I can picture a room that someone on here did, but I can't remember if they used blue or green on the walls. I remember they had black furniture and they had a four poster bed. Does anyone know who I'm talking about. I think the style was a little on the contemporary side, but I'm not positive.
