Hate the flooring! What do I do?

I am having my main floor renovated and they just started installing the new flooring. It's a rigidcore engineered vinyl plank which I had never actually walked on before. I chose it for its waterproof and scratch resistant qualities and it was recommended to me by a contractor. They've installed approximately 20% of the flooring today and I absolutely hate it. It is incredibly hard and uncomfortable under my feet and gives me pain in my feet, legs and back when I stand on it for more than a few seconds. I want to return it and choose a different flooring but I feel horrible and embarrassed and perhaps a little crazy. What would you do? Should I speak with my contractor right away and ask him to take it back up? Or should I give it a chance?
