What would you put above my sofa table?

I'm thinking of moving the mirror over the sofa table to my fireplace. Please give me your ideas for this wall. What would look best? I usually decorate the sofa table with seasonal decor, but suggestions are welcomed. I usually use the bell jar (on the table) to

put a nativity at Christmas, a bird and nest in the spring and pumpkins in the fall. There will be a light color sofa where you see the rocking chair. I have several that I'm looking at now to help complete my family room "spruce up". My style is a mix of cottage/pottery barn/traditional. Nothing ornate or fancy for me.

Hmmmm...not knowing the rest of your room it's hard to tell for scale and balance. Can you take a picture of the whole wall with the sofa table?

One thing that hits me with the pic you posted is the two tables near each other, each with one thing hanging over it and each with one lamp. Have you tried to switch the sofa table and the desk? Or to move the sofa table behind the new sofa, and put the desk where the table was? Just a few wonderings...

Anyway, please post more pics so we can get a feel for the whole space.

Since my builder's sub did the worst rock job in the world on one side of my fireplace I have the biggest piece of artwork in the house up there, flanked by my 2 ceramic owl vases with green punks and sticks in them. No photo. The fireplace is an embarrassment. Its removal is going on my 90 Day punchlist....which reminds me....we are almost there....

What would you put on a mantel below TV above FP?

Nothing! Unless the mantel extends much further out on the sides than the side edges of the TV, my personal preferences would be for it to remain naked. Anything else that you would put up there would only be obstructive, and distract TV viewing. The new homes I've seen that have both TV and mantel always look best when they are unadorned.

DK- Last year one of our cats ate my entire ASPCA approved pet-friendly palm plant. He ate little bits at a time so as to not raise suspicion. When all was said and done, we had spent $5,000 in surgery & vet fees to have the contents of my plant removed from Hobbes’ lower intestines. I love love love the look of real plants in any interior space. If I could, I’d fill up my entire house. Unfortunately I can’t risk endangering my babies again. I don’t know what’s wrong with them lol. The other day my husband dragged a leaf in on the back of his work boots. Sammy, great idea but I have this thing about glass tables. I just replaced the one we had because I couldn’t live with it. And I wanted to have the banquette built. The new table was bought online about 4 months ago. Can’t return/exchange. However, I think I am getting closer to what may work and I do like the looks of the lights you sent. Def. will look for more of that type.
