Comments (5)If you are concerned about buying refurbished products, then you can always purchase an after market warranty. They are not perfect and sometimes you have to fight for them but in some cases, they come through better than manufacturer warranties. Just read the fine print. I've had pretty good luck with refurbished items I've bought but for the more expensive items that have lots of electronics or other hard to maintain parts, I have purchased warranties for them. Also, I've only bought warranties that cost much less than replacement or even repair. For instance $30 for a $400 item. Some will say that warranties are a waste of money and perhaps it is since most are never used. That said, if you are faced with a refurbished deal where you can save $300 and the only thing holding you back is the warranty, then the $50-100 warranty might be worth it for peace of mind alone. In the end, you still save $200. Let's face it, manufacturers build warranty costs into the price of new items so at least you have a choice when you buy refurbished. Also, look into your credit cards and see if any of them provide warranties for items purchased. Particularly AmEx was known to do this. All of that aside, NXR seems to have a pretty good following. Most people say they are a great value. Good luck....See MoreMy almost finished master bdrm (lots of pics..)
Comments (24)They are 41" wide. I decided on two because I wanted the flexibilty to have them just hang on each side of the window if I got tired of having them pulled to one side. As for what is holding them there....I'm ashamed to admit what I'm using. The salesperson at JCP showed me this cool, inconspicuous hook that is made just for tiebacks. They were out of them and haven't come in yet. I checked Target, BB and Beyond, Home Depot and Lowes but only found those "c" shaped cupholder hooks. I would have needed a pretty big size to hold the tiebacks as the cording is thick. So....I used Command Strips. If you notice them they look terrible, but I just couldn't wait any longer to get the drapes up. To make it worse we only had two large ones so I have two on two of the windows. Don't tell anyone........See Morecant make another decision

I see in two of your pics, two children, I assume your precious twins. I have a close childhood friend who after years ago of fertility problems, gave birth to healthy twins. When I first visited her home after the twins' birth, I was amazed to see/feel how tense she was about her white carpeting and her home in general. My DD was about 3 or 4 at the time of the visit and I found myself wondering whether my dear friend would change how she felt about "things". Priorities for some parents change, others put limitations on where the kids can eat, play, even the color of the juice they provide to the kids (and sometimes adults). This was 15 years ago, and sadly my friend is still consumed with "things", despite now having 5 children. I think there can be a happy medium. One of the first major projects in our home was having hardwood floors laid in every room. Although it was one of the more costly projects we've done, I really never gave any conscious thought prior to laying the flooring. We were then a young family with a full life. When the job was finally complete, the floor guy nearly had a stroke when my then 3 labradors came bounding in to greet us. He actually could not believe that I wasn't upset at the prospect of the dogs on the new floor. He questioned me about blocking the rooms off from the dogs, or alternatively, keeping the dogs penned up. He actually told me that if he could, he would rope off my rooms like you would see in a theater or a museum. He was a great installer, came very well recommended and had more business than he could provide his quality service to. His anxiety over the preservation of the flooring that day was tangible and at the time, disturbing to me. Being relatively new to this forum, I have read a few posts by Magnaverde and his mantra loosely stated - make the home for the life you have, not the life you want. I take it a bit further to include the life you think you may want. I guess my point is, if the cost of the new table is prohibitive, don't buy it. If it is not, only buy it if you can accept that it will be in your home and will probably show the signs of life well lived. You have to listen to your inner voice and do only what you feel will make you comfortable. Doing otherwise would be counterproductive. For me, those scratches, dings, etc. lend character to things, they tell a story. Things can be replaced, childhood, however, cannot be recaptured. If you will worry, keep the table you have until your children are older....See MoreFollow up to my builder Aristokraft cabinet debate
Comments (7)Looks great. My neighbor has the same granite with similar color doors and it is a very nice combination. I think you should stick with the wheat color floor. Good luck with the building process. I have gone through it twice and it is so much fun to watch everything come together. The only part that was I wouldn't want to do again is the landscapping. I would love to know how many rocks I picked and how many holes I dug for all the various plants, shrubs and trees that we planted...See MoreSkunk dog holdings LLC
