How are your shower tiles laid out?
Comments (2)We used 12 x 18 porcelain tiles laid horizontally with a 1/3 offset: Mathmatically, that worked great in our shower with a minimum of small pieces. We used 4 x 4's on the diagonal for an accent row and on both the ceiling and floor of the shower. The tile patterns were based off of the intersection of our two main walls since that would be the most prominent area of the shower. It's now about 90% complete and is not yet grouted but I'm very happy with it....See MoreNeed your opinion on shower stall
Comments (20)Thanks! The bathroom was just finished in April. Here's a link to my reveal on the bathrooms forum. I didn't list all of the details of fixtures and such but I guess I should have. Maybe I'll update it. The shower is in an alcove. My contractor made a custom pan so we could make it as large as possible. I think it is vinyl. I gained a few inches that way since I didn't have to use a standard size. The shower fixture is a Hansgrohe raindance shower pipe. I purchased on Amazon. My shower door was custom from a local shower door company. The floor tile is a 1"x2" Calacatta Gold marble herringbone from a local tile store. The subway and trim pieces are American Olean starting line white from Lowes. This was the only white subway I found that was a warm white instead of a bright white. I thought the color worked better with my floor. The grout is antique white on the floor and white on the walls. I haven't had a problem keeping it clean, but it is still fairly new. Comments (10)Can you take 2 weekends to do it? I'd do the fridge hole first--besides, it's a good test spot to hone your skills--then move the fridge into position and do the part that shows the next weekend. I do think it's important to do the fridge spot first so that visible tile won't be at risk from you moving the fridge. If you accidentally mess up tile under the fridge by putting the fridge on it too soon, it won't be as much of an issue....See MoreWhat size tile and how should I lay it out?
Comments (13)Any of those Beth posted or a REAL travertine or limestone will always be ‘in’. A good quality natural wood look will be a sure bet as well. I’m personally a little leery of the grey wood look floors as I feel those will quickly read as a fad. You need to assess your furnishings that you wish to reuse - is everything ‘warm’ or ‘cool’. Typically, a natural wood look will work either way. The original tile you posted is very pink and would only work in the very warm family of colors. Good luck and again I wasn’t trying to be snarky :)...See MoreUser
