Should kitchen wall color match painted island?

We are close to finishing the kitchen remodel. We chose the countertops, tile, and flooring. For the wall cabinets, we plan to do SW Dover White. For a pop of color, we decided on SW Scanda for the island.
The kitchen opens into the formal living room (which has off white walls), but is not otherwise seen from any room. The kitchen has a pantry wall that will be seen from kitchen (opposite wall cabinets but somewhat close to island) and a soffit above wall cabinets. We've thought about painting the soffit the same color as wall cabinets so it blends in. Our painters keep telling us to go bold or at least a different color. We think color on walls is likely best so we're not trying to play the let's match the paint color in living room game.
One option would be to use island color on walls, but not sure if you should do this or if it takes a way from island. The other color we've used in house (foyer and master) is Behr Greek Isles which we think would coordinate with the Scanda. We used a different very bold blue in dining room which is not seen from kitchen but is seen from living room.
Anyone have thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!
