I painted my cabinets alabaster by Sherman Williams and need help

I want a white subway tile that won't clash but still look white with dark grout to go with my alabaster painted cabinets. Unsure what countertop to go with as well and wall paint color. My kitchen has quite a bit of natural light from the SE and several recess cans. Considering Swanbridge by Cambria for the countertop, which appears timeless to me but will it be to white and bright in the end. I have natural red oak hardwood floors. Trim and ceiling are also Alabaster. Going for a modern farmhouse look. I may paint my window stops black as I love that look, to tie in with my black and wood rustic light fixtures. New appliances to be black stainless steel also with black rod iron decor and rustic wood open shelving. Suggestions anyone for me to look at?

You need to decide on your counters before you pick the backsplash -- that will become clearer once you have the other finishes to compare...

We went through the same turmoil trying to make the trim decision. Our cabs are SW paint matched to BM White Dove which is similar to Alabaster. We are bright white gloss trim people. We painted scrap trim with white and some with White Dove in all the sheen options available (could have had a whole room painted for the cost of paint we bought to make this decision). Cabinets are satin sheen White Dove. In the end we went with Oil based semigloss White Dove trim for all crown/baseboards, and casing for doors and windows. We even went with White Dove ceiling paint. We like how it turned out. The white made our cabinets look yellowish or grayish depending on the lighting. For our White Dove choice, I just like how it all flows together. The different sheens provide the contrast for me. Good luck! Won't you be glad when all this is done? Remodel/new build decisions are not for the faint at heart!

First too mant different things. IMO all the same cabinets with 2 different counters or all the same counters with 2 differnt cabinet colorsd Rainwashed from SW is a nice real neutral but still a color but not what you are planning. IMO it is too soon to choose wall color since it sounds like nothing is in yet. I know builders always want to paint before the floor goes in but honestly there is IMO no way to choose wall color at that stage. I never like real stone and fake stone in the same space a alundry roo is easy to paint later if what you choose doesn’t quite work as for the rest I guess choose something that seems right Is the light in ? If that is in and is all LEDs in 4000K you might bea ble to get some idea for wall color.the 4000k will allow the colors to stay true at night. I happen to like a really soft gray. green when I am forced to choose wall color with no context and then a white for the trim that is the same as the cabinets.Easiest get a door from the cabinet place in that white and get it color matched for trim.

I decided to use it as a whole house color-and I extremely disliked it in the kitchen. Especially didn’t like it with my counters. Maybe once the floor was in and everything was done I would’ve liked it. But we repainted, Repose Gray, and while I’m not sold on it, I don’t feel as though I’m having a panic attack when I look at it. Definitely look at it in different rooms/parts of the day etc.

Hi, I just choose pure white for my cabinets. All the advice i got on here was just to paint the walls pure white. but i will have pure white trim. not sure how that would look with your old trim though, if you say no one notices the diff then might work for you.

my current kitchens state. Alot to change as noted above. May put a more narrow custom wood island in the center instead or paint the one here black or white? Black with Cambria white marble top or white with a butcher block top.

inspiration ideas below.

do you think I should go black countertops for the outer edge and butcher block for the island (paint the cabinet white or put in a more rustic wood island with wood that matches floors). Or paint the island cabinet black and put white or butcher block countertops on it ? I just cannot decide.

Are you certain you need new counter tops? If they are solid black I would keep them and splurge with a dazzling back splash. I see in two of the photos you posted there is tile to the ceiling.

I would also change the light over the island.

Do not choose paint color until you make the other decisions.

Thanks for your suggestions. The island is black but the others are brown and need to be replaced. We just purchased the light over the island to go with the rustic/modern farm house look we are going for with a complete remodel of the kitchen (minus the cabinets).

I would paint the island the same color as the cabinets and keep the black countertop on the island or use the same new white countertop on the island and the cabinets. After the new countertop is in, then I would select the backsplash.
