Alabaster white cabinets--should all molding and trim be alabaster white also?

Like baseboard & trim around windows & doors? Not in my kitchen, but that's really an individual choice.

We are building a new house and I'm wondering same thing. Alabaster on cabinets in kitchen, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to do alabaster for all trim throughout house. I had considered doing the trim in pure white instead of alabaster. I think either way is fine.

I put the Alabaster sample door up against the primed white walls in the kitchen. I think the bright white of the primed walls makes the Alabaster look off white so I think I am going with the Alabaster for the trim color as well. It is a warmer white.

I am considering the exact same thing. I think that Alabaster trim will look best with Alabaster cabinets. My backsplash is durango travertine and the walls will be BM Sepia Tan. Alabaster is a nice warm white.

We painted all the trim SW Alabaster White. My cabinets are the same color, and it looks so nice. They are being installed now so I will post a picture once everything is finished.

I am very happy with the Alabaster as my trim and cabinet color.

Thanks to robjac315, I would love to see pictures. I have to decide this week but am leaning towards doing pure white for trim so there is a little more contrast with my wall colors (edge comb grey and revere pewter). What are your wall colors?

We're still not finished. Two cabinets came in damaged so the desert brown granite and subway backsplash can't be installed. The microwave comes Friday.

The walls are mate SW Sand Beige on top and Semigloss SW Alabaster on the bottom. Trim gets a coat of SW gloss Alabaster but hasn't been done yet. The island was decided upon after the cabinets were ordered so we went with walnut and a butcher block top. The floors are porcelain tile. The room is 14' x 20'. This still isn't finished, but hope it helps.

I am sure it will look beautiful! I have a lot of light in my kitchen with two large windows and a sliding glass door, recessed LED lighting, and undercabinet lighting which is why I went with the gloss Alabaster trim. The pictures just show semi gloss and primer so I am sure it will be much brighter after the gloss paint is applied. It is a little whiter than the cabinets, so I like the contrast. I am sure bright white will look great in your kitchen. Can't wait to see pictures so please post when you are finished. I can't wait to be finished...seems like forever!

My comment of "I am sure it will look beautiful" was for Mama Rachel because she was speaking about choosing bright white and I know her kitchen will be stunning!

We went through the same turmoil trying to make the trim decision. Our cabs are SW paint matched to BM White Dove which is similar to Alabaster. We are bright white gloss trim people.

We painted scrap trim with white and some with White Dove in all the sheen options available (could have had a whole room painted for the cost of paint we bought to make this decision).

Cabinets are satin sheen White Dove. In the end we went with Oil based semigloss White Dove trim for all crown/baseboards, and casing for doors and windows. We even went with White Dove ceiling paint. We like how it turned out.

The white made our cabinets look yellowish or grayish depending on the lighting.

For our White Dove choice, I just like how it all flows together. The different sheens provide the contrast for me.

Good luck! Won't you be glad when all this is done? Remodel/new build decisions are not for the faint at heart!

I will post pictures robjac but we are probably few months out for completion of new construction. But paint is starting next week I think. I understand perky2 - I've also spent a fortune on paint samples for the house! . At least the cost the paint a room. I'm pretty sure this is a place where either way will be ok, pure white is one shade lighter than alabaster. Although I'd love to hear from anyone who has actually done it what you think!

I went through the same dilemma with white crown molding & baseboards along the top of the cabinets that continued into the adjoining family room. Once the cabinet installation began, it was clear that we needed to match the trim color to our cabinet color. We repainted the crown, casings & baseboards in the kitchen, family room & breakfast area. The rest of the house is the original White Dove & looks fine.

Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I was having second thoughts about my walnut island in comparison to my Alabaster cabinets. Seeing how great yours looks, I am reassured it will look fine.
