My husband has two kids....now adults in their 40's...although the boy probably isn't his, but thinks he is, and that's okay. They recently came back into his life. It is fine with me....they have been very attentive towards him. The boy even wanted to take him to the Super Bowl, but my husband's health isn't up to that, but it was a very nice offer. So, I guess in a way, they are my honorary children

Sigh, I miss my honorary daughter. The family next door, both parents worked, and their daughter was a little younger than our son. She'd come knock on our door, at age two! And want to play. She'd hang out all day, we'd give her lunch. I treated her like a daughter, I didn't really discipline her but I guided her as I did my son. On weekends or school days off, we'd take her with us to apple picking, boat and rv shows, the movies, whatever we were doing. It was nice for our son, even when his brother came along. She has similar coloring to our kids and fit in perfectly, so people thought she was our daughter.

When we moved two towns away, the kids were getting into middle school so we didn't really get together after that. I really miss her, she was fun to have around.

I call them children of the heart rather than honorary children because many are your children even if they share no blood.

My oldest grand daughter is my bonus grand daughter. She is now 11, my bio grand daughter is 9, and my grand son is 8. They all know each other, even so they live 2 states apart, and call each other cousins.

Do grandchildren count? I'm raising 2 grandsons age 9 &11. I've had them both since the oldest was 2 and the youngest 9 months. Father is part of their life..sees them daily, but is very sick with lung problems. Mother left when youngest was 9 months and never came back although she lives in the next town and had two more children, not my sons. These boys are my world. They have brightened my life. Their loving, happy, gifted academically, honest, and trustworthy. They call me grandma which I am, but in my heart I feel like their mother. God has Blessed me.

I am a retired teacher and have no grandchildren. I have "adopted" several students over the years, called them my grandkids and kept track of them long after high school. They have so enriched my life, and seem very happy that I call them grandchildren. Many of the ones I have"adopted" have no mother present or family problems and I am just a little part of their lives. I am the one that thinks they are perfectly wonderful no matter what.

I have my nephew, and a "play" niece and nephew, who all refer to me as "Auntie". They are doing well, and I would (and have) do anything to help them in their lives to be successful.

We are the happy honorary grandparents of the two little girls who live next door, known here as my 'sprites'. Their bio grandfather raises them alone (doing a wonderful job) but we have been very fortunate to share fully in their lives....the fun stuff and not so fun.

There is no question that we all benefit.

We have an "adopted by love" daughter. Her parents are both dead, so we are her other parents. Also a dear friend who considers us as her other parents.

"I" was someones honorary child. My neighbor was a Home Ec school teacher. I looked more like her than her own children and...... I sewed most of my clothes. She lived long enough to see me married & in college.

So my bonus son #2 just called me. So funny his timing. He has a real job interview and was texting me pictures of what he has to wear lol. I’m so excited for him, it seems like the perfect job for him. Fingers crossed!

I have several honorary sons. Some call me Mom. One had me dance the groom and mother dance with him at his wedding. It was such an Honor..

Also have several “fake” nieces and nephews. I sign cards to them. Love, Fake Aunt Kathy! That all started when one of them introduced me to her friends, “Oh, this is my fake Aunt Kathy”. So that is who I shall be!

I have step kids....all adults now. But I did raise them so while not related to me by blood, they are also not honorary but just my kids :-)
