If you have a heat vent, lift that and look at the cut edge of the flooring. Or, find another place where you can view a cross section (cut edge) of the flooring. That will tell you whether what you have is a solid or engineered product. It is doubtful that your floor was ever resanded. One way to tell is to lift a piece of shoe molding or quarter round, if you have that as part of your baseboard molding and look to see if the floors were sanded up to the shoe or quarter round...some floor refinishers choose to work that way. Both solid and engineered can be refinished...solid a few more times than engineered, but done properly with quality materials and you won't be doing it again for a long time.

I would not paint those cabinets, especially if they are solid cherry. I would refinish them. Either stripped them and leave them naked (w/ only a waxed finish), or I would stained them darker chocolate brown. If you want a cottage farmhouse look, then maybe light stain with darker stain glazing to highlight distress and mimic age. I just think white is too stark & would make your floor looks dingy. Just an opinion. :-D

Waterborn generally doesn't have the amber cast of oil-based (though some does). I'd talk to your finisher about it, bet they know how to tint their stuff to get what you want, or use not-water-based.

Definitely looks pink on my monitor. To the right of the FP, the upper back looks pink and the lower looks more neutral as does the drawer front. Not sure of the look you were going for but it appears very splotchy. There are all kinds of "painting contractors" with varying levels of skill and experience. I would have discussed sanding off the finish and bleaching the wood. All primer is not created equal and four coats of the wrong stuff will not prevent bleed through. When you look into preventing bleed through, shellac or oil based are stated as necessary. We used two coats of BIN synthetic shellac primer over previously painted 40 year old pine trim and three months later knots bled through the two top coats of paint.
