Help! White kitchen cabinets look 'PINK'
Comments (14)I am having the same thing going on in my kitchen. I have a beige wall color and my cabinets were a soft white. Cabinets were installed and they match the walls and I didn't even try to do that. Probably couldn't have if I tried. It wasn't my intention of course. So, floors going in and granite Tuesday and then like you I will make the paint decision. I have a hard time too deciphering what colors would do what. But even after a few days I like the cabs so much better than when they first went in. I'm going to wait til granite in because that color will change what I see now. The granite is creamy like cabs. I can definitely relate to your frustration with the color situation. Please post your outcome because it does help to read others situation when they find solution. Good luck!I am so grateful I like the cabs, they are nice and I like the flooring as well.It is antique walnut. It is scary making all these decisions with the money involved. Paint is an easy fix if I have to thank goodness....See MoreHelp - Do I have to Refinish my Refinishing Project?
Comments (2)Can you show a picture? It sounds like it could be several things. The different patterns in wood grain are from the varying hardness of wood. You may have an area of harder wood that just sands smoother (and more shiny) than the surrounding soft wood. Is the stain color even or blotchy? Does it look like stain isn't absorbing in those areas? That can be caused by a contaminant, like wax or furniture polish.Does the stain feel tacky in those spots and dry everywhere else?...See MoreCan I refinish my ash plywood custom cabinets?
Comments (4)We just refinished our ash cabinet fronts. They were a dark stain so I sanded them a bit, applied "kills" and then painted them with a base paint, applied a glazing stain leaving the groove stained dark and wiped the remaining off, just enough to permit the desired look. A lot of elbow grease is required and an orbital sander works very well. We did not do much sanding in the groove however. Just took a lot of time!! It would maybe be easier to get new doors, however you still have to deal with the face frames of the cabinets unless you decide to reface those. If everything is as good as you say I would just use what you have and expect a few weeks of boreing, hard work. Good luck....See MoreHelp! My lighting is making my cool white cabinets look green
Comments (5)Try an 2700 LED bulb, CR6 perhaps.. Pricy, but you'll love the color. My kitchen feels all warm and bright (nice here in the fog belt). try polar-ray.com. Call them. Nice folks....See MoreKathrine Parnell
