Love how your TV blends with the wall! I would think a floor lamp behind the chair may be all you need. Did you swap the ladder also?

I love the color of the wall. I think the reason it does not work is because there is no contrast. IMO dark walls that are done well need art that pops off the dark space. Your eye has nothing to focus on when looking at that wall other than the black frame of the tv and a couple of blankets. Therefore it looks incomplete. Add gallery of art on that wall and it will change the look and feel of the space.

@karen rose - Thanks! I agree that painting that wall to match the lighter gray could help alot! Maybe that is what is totally throwing me off!

Your rooms needs pattern and color. Add artwork to both sides of the TV. ( is the TV off center for any reason?) Instead of bamboo blinds, look for lovely patterned linen drapes that close all the way for the windows. Look for a pattern with colors in addition to the blue of your sofas.

@threers - The tv is slightly off center (it came with the house) and I think swapping the chair made it even more obvious! I'm going to work on convincing my husband to fix that! I have tried patterned drapes before and didn't like them (pattern was large), but I will keep looking! Thank you!

Look on line for drapery and upholstery fabrics....you can see a lot of colors and patterns without leaving the comfort of your home and teach yourself what you like or don't and why. Good luck.

If you do decide to change the position of the TV, consider lowering it. Notice how ilikefriday's pic has a lower TV - just above the cabinetry. That is where it should be - at eye level with the viewer.

I like "ilikefriday" comments , you can use wallpaper for the whole wall,

or color just a section behind your TV and console, or you can use wood to give texture.

I'm a blue fan, so I like the rug and sectional! I think all of your walls the same color would look better in my opinion. What paint color is it? From my monitor it looks on the grey side.

Also, where the tv is, seems a bit over crowded. I would edit out some items. Maybe taking out the chair for a tall plant in the corner, if you're keeping the console.

For a coffee table, a round glass one to show off the rug would be nice, especially with the mass off the sectional. Not sure if that's feasible with any little ones, no corners though! I would also take away the solid color blue pillows, adding a few with color/pattern and texture, along with a pretty throw. :)

@kmg11 - Thank you for those ideas! The lighter walls are gray, and the feature wall is a deep navy blue (not sure of the names though because it was like this when we bought the house).

I for one like the dark wall and really really don't like the look of art on either side of the tv. It makes it look like there is a hole between the pictures or like you chos not to hang anything there. I would DEFINITELY invest in a better, longer console like the one Friday pictures, lower and center the TV. the chair is shoved too fare into the corner anyway, I think it needs to go. I like the grouping of plants, maybe one up on the new console to give some hei and contrast w the wall. As a rule I always buy New pillowcases for the pillows that match the sofa-way too much of the same boring color otherwise. You can get some amazing custom designer pillowcases on etsy. I love the gold drapes: something more solid to stand up to the bold wall and sofa :)

Fill the wall with a long, low cabinet and add some interesting pieces and a lamp to it. What size is the TV screen? Perhaps seating needs adjustment and TV needs lowering. Looks like the chaise sofa is reversible, so what about reversing the chaise and flipping it with the standard sofa? That would remove the chaise from the walkway side of the room. Another way to gain a more open feeling would e to use "C" tables instead of the huge coffee table or the other two tables. Then opt for a floor or arc lamp instead of the table lamp. If you put in a long cabinet, then I would move the 6 framed pieces to the stairwell and use that mirror and your ladder there by the entry.
