Thanks for all of the dialogue and insight. I bought this desk for $100. I find it to be perfect size for my repair and restoration work, both for pocket watches and antique fans. I find that it has an interesting vintage feel to it while at the same time quite roomy and functional for my needs. The fans : Actually, there are no Emerson fans in that photo (amazing since Emersons are indeed my favorite!) The one on the desk is a GE Whiz that I restored this past weekend. The ones on the ground are a large R&M and a couple more GEs. (See my link below for my personal blog to see some of these fan restorations) Thanks again for the info on the desk. Ask the library how it was used. Also, ask if they have anymore information about it such as age, when aquired, etc.

This is a LONG shot, but I Googled 'Empire desk hairy claw feet'. I ended up at Ruby Lane, linked below. But when I landed at Ruby Lane, the search term had changed to this - 'Furniture:Empire Style Mahogany Columns Triple Doors Hairy Paw Feet' . It makes me think that perhaps this seller HAD one described like that and it sold. The seller is in Pensacola, FL, and it you go to Ruby Lane and that store, there is a link to contact them. Any table would work for me. I would definitely not buy a table with a glass surface, because then the surface would be covered in my fingerprints every day. In general, I only need the table to put my computer there and play games. I am unlikely to work or write at this desk. Yes, and I can not write beautifully, if, for example, I need to make a resume, then I order professional sop writing services. Study I have hardly ever will. So for me, the desk is more than entertainment.
