@ TONYA FOSTER Kentwood is a good brand that we show at both our showrooms. The look and feel of their products is quite trendy and attractive. I wish wear layer of their engineered floors could be thicker and 2 mm. Sample boards matching actual floor order has been a challenge to floor dealers in the past couple of years. This is why you heard DuChateau sent approval box their dealer/home owner before shipping the actual floor order in the previous part of this discussion. Could you post a picture of sample board and picture of your floor received?

Du Chateau is the worst! My floors were damaged even before we moved in. All the nosing had a softer finish on it. They have to WORST customer service and do not stand by their product. When I called customer service, they actually told me I should have picked a different wood. They offered no remedy except "check your warranty". Unbelievable!

Well...plenty of Americans have a similar dearth of writing skills--and that's when writing in their native language! I've also been curious about midrange engineered flooring from Reward Floors, Cali Woods (of Cali Bamboo infamy) and a few others. Quality all looks pretty much the same in the $6-7 sq ft range, or am I missing something? All this makes me lean a little closer toward my original plan: reinstalling about 400 sq feet of our old Junckers solid ash and adding about 1,500 sq feet of new Junckers solid ash. Going green (by reuse) does not come cheap as the new Junckers I'd need to add is $10/sq ft. But hey, some day I can tell potential home buyers the floors they're walking on were made in Denmark!

Thanks all. We removed the floor. Unfortunately as expected, that exposed more of a mess. Luckily, no "damage" to subfloor per say, but it looked like the previous folks who installed the floor used leveling "float" on pretty much the entire 700 sqft and in some place as thick as almost 1.5 inches. This made it very difficult to remove the layers of flooring (combination of engineered hardwood glued down and some solid wood nailed down to plywood, which was glued and nailed down to "leveling float", which was poured over OSB subfloor). The demo guy tried to get to the OSB subfloor as best he could but he stopped after 2 days of demo and when the OSB was starting to get damaged as it came up with some of the float. We have now moved on to filling the 3 very low areas with some plywood and then pouring self leveling float over the entire floor to try to fill in all to "holes" that were created by trying to pull up the previous float. I guess I am officially welcomed to home ownership.
