I love what you are doing with the room. I think black chairs. Is this your everyday dining room or for special occasions? If those chairs are anything like my black refrigerator, the smudges might drive you crazy. It looks great when brand new and then you can never get it to look that way again.... Perhaps you could do two armchairs to flank the buffet (in all black) and the others armless. I do think the clear chairs with the clear table might wash out. I painted the top of my round pine kitchen table, and it has held up beautifully! Lots of heavy duty use by messy grandchildren and DH and I, and no problems with the paint holding up. That was four years ago, and it still looks as good as the day I did it. I used regular latex satin finish paint, and applied it with a good brush.

If you wonder how it would fit, get a plastic drop sheet and cut it to 60 inch round size and lay it in the space. Then you can put your existing chairs around it and see if it works.

with those big windows and glorious light I would get a trestle table and push it against that pony wall with chairs facing the great room...and a chair on each end...If you brought the leather couch and two chairs in around fireplace as in a conversation, designated seating area ...you could get a drop leaf table and up against the wall where leather couch is, for "overflow' , to use as you entertain: either for seating or laying things out. People all live so uniquely these days ...some entertain , some don't, ...but I could get a secondary table that has flexibility in that room. As you say..tables are work zones, computer use zones these days.
