This is the key thing to keep in mind about horses. And the other thing to keep in mind is that when they are scared, they run. ;) Its also possible she ran because the deer ran, not because she was afraid of it, but because she figured if IT had reason to run maybe she should too. With lots of training and "miles" she'll get more confident and secure. My trainer's two lesson horses are "bomb proof". Nothing phases those boys. They're also 22 years old. Image is only 6, she's already very calm and level headed for a horse so young, in a couple years she'll be VERY calm and sensible. In a couple years I'd put my Mom on her for a trail ride, but not quiet yet. ;) I still bounce better if I come off. hehe...See Morefired floor guy-no contract-what do i owe him?
Comments (7)Oh..I understand and am not being argumentative in anyway. I am just saying that if he goes in to court explaining how many sq ft, etc etc he has accomplished with an industry standard of what the labor should be he will have a good fighting chance. Of course, you would be trying to argue it away...but if he has laid 350 ft of wood and the industry stzndard is 3 bucks a foot lets say, plus extras that he has done ..he would be able to put a formula to that and come up with a believable figure..minus the deposit of course. Now if the deposit covers in reality what he has done..then he is paid and a judge, magistrate, or arbitrator should be able to see that. The right way on your behalf perhaps is to have two estimates done...One stating the labor if everything that was done is removed by you and started over and one if you had the balance of the project completed...the difference could be argued is what is owed. Now if he did some removal or prep work that the new estimate will benefit from, than he would be owed that also. Just some thoughts..and remember the laws just seem to favor the villains sometimes....See MoreI've Got The Yell-ows!
Comments (18)Wow, bbtx, you must've read my mind--I was looking at colors like that yesterday! Last night I looked at the orange-y antique in question and realized the finish is truly an awful color: orange pine with a biloous green cast. I've had it since my grandmother died, it was made in the 1850's or so by a cabinet maker relative. It hasn't been refinished since about 1970 when my mom stripped it. G-ma fthought it looked "naked" and painted the top & front panels with OX BLOOD MILK PAINT (her own recipe) to "brighten it up." Now, I adored my G-ma, and have lugged this heavy piece of furnitue aall over the country for years in a twisted form of ancestral worship because mother told me it's a family piece and selling or painting a family piece will earn me a lightening bolt from heaven. And I'm just now thinking "Wait--WHAT??" I'm talked to my older sister last night and SHE'S like "OMG, you took that seriously?" Long story short, (sorry!) aforementioned sister is visiting this weekend and we're going to examine options re: cleaning/refinishing/refinishing or painting this piece so it plays nicely with others an doesn't restrict my decor choices quite so much!...See MoreTell Me H ow Y ou Do It ?????????????
Comments (12)LOL, ohhhh I feel for you really - big hugs. me, I like to buy sheets of glass just to have more options on sizes and shapes to cut. I do get some tiles and will nip those too. cutting seems to go pretty quick for me. When I decide my next color or colors, I tend not to put much thought into what shape/size where and just do some various width strips, and nip some into square and then some of those into triangles, my shapes and sizes are always irregular - I use a ruler as a straight edge but never measure anything, just eyeball it. My fingers and nails are perpetually stained and I just don't give a dang, I keep my nails shorts and my calluses thick - life of a professional landscaper, never pretty and just don't care about such things....See Moremamapinky0
