HGTV Dream Home opinions?
Comments (3)I think the outside of the house is charming and pretty, then when I see the inside I'm instantly dissappointed. First with the drapes that hang in the doorways. I don't get that. They are so out of place and they are too long. Can you imagine how long they would stay clean if you actually open and closed them? One thing that struck me as odd was why did Kim decorate the kids room for a boy and then make believe it was suitable for a girl also? That was a big mess up on that room I think. I hate the great room I think it is, that has the leather sofas, one just below the TV??? I don't get that either. The other thing I noticed was they had 5 or 6 candle sticks on a tiny table that was suppose to be a coffee or end table. Now who in the real world would fill a table with all those candle sticks? The decor they have is not realistic or pretty. I'd have to go in there and redo all the decor because the majority of it was "thrown" in there with no thought. For once I wish they would let Candace Olsen decorate their Dream House. Then it would truly be a dream....See MoreHGTV Dream Home
Comments (21)I think the exterior is awful but I really like the outdoor living room. The whole concept of a vacation home in a development just blows my mind. Perhaps that's because I come from a family that vacationed at a camp on a lake in the Adirondacks that was built by my grandfather. Or perhaps it's because I don't want to live in suburbia....See MoreHGTV Dream Home Follow Up
Comments (22)Internet had this to say about taxes on large lotteries..... Taxes on Large Lottery Winnings Depending on your other income and the amount of your winnings, your federal tax bracket can go as high as 39.6%. Your lottery winnings might also be subject to state income tax. So depending on where you live, your total tax bill could exceed 50%. You don't get any capital gains rate break for lottery winnings, nor is there any income averaging to help lower your tax bill. If you win more than $5,000 in the lottery, 28% must be withheld from your winnings for federal income tax purposes. You can do a google search 'taxes on lottery' to get more info specific to your situation......... ADDING (that) in the US it would all likely be taxable and effectively be taxed at whatever your rate on AGI ends up being...... (Rememeber Oprah audience...the entire value of the cars they were given was taxable...in fact the money they were then given to pay the tax on it was taxable). ------------------------------------------------------------ Oh, BTW...they also said Canada's is $0.00 We had a friend on Price is Right late last year. He won a car. We were all SO EXCITED for him because he was never without a smile even though he was waiting for a kidney transplant. 3 days after winning but before he could pay the taxes and pick up his car, he was in a coma in the hospital and died a few days later. I never did hear whether his parents were able or wanted to get the car....See MoreHGTV Dream Home...Have you entered yet?
