LG Owners' poll - If you own one, or owned one, do you like it?
Comments (44)This was my post on one of the 'Washer/Dryer' threads: Posted by lolamina (debmacjake@comcast.net) on Wed, May 14, 08 at 1:07 Can't speak on the washer/dryer combo...I have inclination to steer clear of 'combo' anything. But just purchased LG 7188 dryer (w/all latest bells and whistles) and I'm thrilled. Service, as for anything we purchase that we can't fix ourselves, is a concern...but if you take an up-front view of how often service has been needed on specific appliances...that greatly reduces it as a prominent decision factor. LG Clothes Dryers just received the 2007 J.D.Power and Assoc. HIGHEST RATING of ALL MAJOR BRAND clothes dryers! We searched for weeks, read hundreds of reviews, and really did our homework - LG hands down for best performance and best value. Also highly rated by all the 'subscription' consumer guides. Before you listen to any one persons 'service experience' and apply it to the entire Brand...get Pro-Active and see how often service is REQUIRED for your MODEL. Best bet until combos (one machine to do it all!) are perfected, side-by-side and stackable models may well out-perform and require less service. Comments (27)My first thought looking at your kitchen was jerusalem gold like sharb's kitchen assuming the color would work with your granite http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/2007/06/sharbs-kitchen.html But of course I was flipping thru the finished kitchen blogs trying to find the kitchen with the backsplash I was thinking of (which of course was near the end of the alphabet), I found two other ones Durago travertine mini-brick in beachlvr kitchen in the finished kitchen blog http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/2006/12/beachlvrs-kitchen.html Or Durango Split Face like epjenk's Kitchen http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/2007/06/epjenks-kitchen.html Here is a link that might be useful: Sharb's kitchen...See MorePLEASE advise on window coverings for our new home. Comments (13)I'm not a designer... But, I kind of like your roller blinds. Are you thinking about replacing them all because you feel like they aren't good quality (because they've been breaking), or are you just not liking them, in general? If it were me, I'd leave the roller blinds and add drapes, which would be a way to add color. Or, I think you can put up roman blinds (outside mount) over the inside mount roller blinds. I'm not a designer, though, so.... I've had faux wood blinds and they do gather dust and the slats are a bit time consuming to dust. I used to occasionally wash mine over the bathtub. I didn't really like all the strings in them, either (and they aren't exactly the most child or pet-safe choice so far as window coverings). But, most people, around here at least, seem to have them. They seem to be very common. It's just my opinion, but I think they're not the best thing if you want to be able to raise/lower something on a daily basis. It's pretty easy to open up the slats and close them, but raising and lowering is another thing....See MoreJust for fun, what do you love but would never have in your own home?
Comments (78)In my new home, I have a housekeeper come every other week. I like clean homes. I do NOT like the actual job of cleaning them. I'd rather work in the garden, or do some cooking, or deal with the chickens, or keep up with physical maintenance and house painting/staining, or do graphic arts or anything else. I'm fine with doing laundry, too. I clean up after myself in the kitchen, but the housekeeper does floors, bathrooms and general dusting/windows and such. And I now have a robot vacuum who is pretty decent at what he does. He even has a name: Sharkey. I'm not crazy about cleaning his filter, but it comes with the territory and lasts five minutes... I didn't have a housekeeper back at my old CT home. One reason my getting out of there and getting the place on the market is taking so long... especially since I then had a full time job that lasted well over the standard 40 hour work week. THIS one will be clean! But it doesn't need to be anally-House Beautiful clean. Simply lived in and tidy. My reasons for not wanting a fully white kitchen or other rooms are not about appearing clean, but about my just only wanting white as an accent. Aesthetically. That's what works for my sense of eye appeal....See MoreBT
