Recommendations for art size on large wall in foyer
Full wall is 20x11. Between trim is 11.5 feet. Outer measurement of dark railing is 9ft. Want a triple panel. Photographed piece is 7 ft wide x 4 ft tall. A reproduction of this piece will be made and size can be adjusted. Hanging it will be a whole different challenge. How far above railing to hang? What is the right height?

PRO5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoeven on that wall art should be hung at eye level. basically about 57" from the floor to the middle of the artwork.
as it is, it's prob going to be a bit too high since that rail is in the way. Why don't you get some blue painters tape, tape off the width and then play w/the height. you do not want it to hang above the doorway. If possible.
5 years agoAs you can see from the photos it's nearly impossible to experiment with sizes in the actual space. So above the doors is 4 feet of wall you are recommending to leave blank? From 5' 7" to the top of the door is only 15 inches. Does that mean threw piece can be no taller than 30"? Tough to see in the lighting but the lower pink note is 15 inches below the center. Not sure I'm making sense

Comments (1)Google the artist and discover his works sold at auctions such as Artnet.com. No clue if this particular piece was reproduced. Mr. Goose passed away in 2001 from what I read. Alternatively, you can comment on the article and ask the designer where she sourced the piece. Might have been a gallery selling his work or might have already belonged to the homeowner. The gallery might have other works of his you might appreciate. If your budget is more toward prints (though depending on the medium and the artist, original art can be pretty affordable), Great Big Canvas (https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/) or iCanvas ( https://www.icanvas.com/) sell large size prints in a variety of styles. Also, give IRL art shopping a chance. Galleries, art fairs, or the rotating artwork at you local cafe give you a chance to support local artists. I have many pieces from a local studio that provides space and services to disabled adults. There are also student art shows. I know it's more work than the internet, where you can look at hundreds of pieces in an hour and easily filter by price and size, but local shopping is rewarding and supports artists directly....See MoreArt Art Art! PRO5 years agoIf you cannot replace the chandelier, then it's important to select art that will not be too strong IMO. I think something like this might complement your home.
