Furniture Design Dilemma Bedroom

Bedroom help, empty wall

Hello all!

My bedroom is coming along, but I'm a little stumped by what to do with one last wall. I was thinking of the Molucca console table from Pottery Barn. My concern is that there will be dressers against the wall both to the right and left of the bed. I'm worried that the effect will be an empty bedroom with a bunch of furniture pushed to the wall. What do you think? We are talking about area D in the diagram. Area C has a settee and bookshelf, also against the wall.

I do like the idea of artwork... a nice big wrapped canvas (easy to put up too!)

Looks like you may not need an additional console? You already have quite a lot of furniture in the room. Maybe just rearrange slightly? Could you take a photo of the wall that is missing?

I definitely don't need the storage. It would really be just to fill the space and look pretty.

This is the last corner. I need to organize the bookshelf obviously. The settee sits facing the foot of the bed.

whenicit, Thanks, but I need LOTS of help! The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... I don’t understand that white shelf over the head board. It messed up your room so take it down and find some art or fabric you like and stretch it over a large frame for some fun in your room. Some fabric like this pillow would bring some joy. Try moving that bookcase over to beside bed to use as a bit of a night stand. Then move corner ladder piece to corner left of TV. Move dressing mirror to other side of room. Get a lumbar pillow with more color to go with art you create. Let the art cover any holes you have in walls. A small chair would be nice too. Put a ball lamp on bookshelf. I will post some pictures to give you some additional inspiration.

Love the bed and bedding!! Loggia is a nice greige, we have it all over our house. Just try a few first. Can you use a slightly larger lamp? They seem a tad small next to the gorgeous bed.

You could make your room a reading retreat by adding a console (with tv above) and store books, magazines, and photo albums, etc. Try pulling your rug out as well Suggest replacing the small table between chairs with something larger to make that area feel more substantial; but more importantly, for the addition of a good reading lamp, book, coffee cup, etc. Add pillow and a throw and for more comfort, you could move the chairs back a bit as there seems to be room and add ottomans.

Will one of the bureaus fit where you are thinking of the console? Then you would have a bureau on opposite walls on each side of the bed? I really don't think the room looks empty at all, or that you need more furniture.

I could move one. I was thinking of hanging mirrors above them. I do like the symmetry of matching dressers flanking the big window. It is the first thing you see when you walk into the room. But I'm definitely open to trying it.

Maybe I just leave that space blank? Put a mirror or potted plant or art work there?

Very pretty room. I would hang a big piece of art or a gallery arrangement there and call it done. You have enough furniture already.

I love the painting of the woman and it has pinks and blues and ties in with the room perfectly. Maybe I can do a wall around that.

I'm located in central California.
