Painting and Pregnancy

I have a quick questions that I'm sure is going to get me a ton of different answers but here it goes.

I am hoping to paint some of my upstairs hallway as well as our future nursery room. My wife works a bit over xmas so I will have lots of time to paint while she is out of the house. Of course she will be returning from work at night and obviously because she is pregnant I am a bit unsure of how to complete this job without exposing her to fumes/toxins.

I don't have a lot of opportunity's to tackle such a large task so Christmas break really is the best time to get it all done while I have a few days off of work. I'm willing to bet that most people do end up painting a nursery when they are expecting so it makes me wonder how they do this. Do they use a specific type of paint and keep the house well ventilated?

My wife wont be doing any of the painting at all so I'm hoping that there is a safe way that I can get this done. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
