I haven't flown for a very long time, but my DH does sometimes. Here is a "perfectly good" plane that he chose to step out of.

This is apparently an overhead view of South Elgin, Illinois. Interesting (to me) is that I had an uncle, aunt & two cousins who lived in Elgin for 20+ years.

I prefer to look up at them rather than down from them

Wow Alisande! It's a little different there today...when I used to fly out of there it was not unusual to be #22 in line for take off!

Yeah--sooo different! I made a similar comment the other day about the Daytona Beach Airport. When I started flying into Daytona in the early 1960's we deplaned on the tarmac and strolled into the little building. When my parents saw me off we said goodbye on the tarmac too. Quite different today!

I remember that at the end of a trip to Europe as we were flying home through Charles de Gaulle Airport in mid-July of 2000 we took a bus out across the tarmac to board our plane, and the very next plane over was a Concorde. I snapped a picture of it, but I don't seem to have a copy here on my computer, even though I have pictures from the rest of that trip. It was memorable because it was only a week or two later that the Concorde blew up on takeoff from Paris.

Since I can't find my mediocre picture of a Concorde sitting on a runway, In lieu of that I'll instead post this one from the very last flight of the Concorde in 2003, which is considered by some to be the very best aviation photograph of all time.

The puddle jumper that took us from the airport in St. Kitts to the airport in Nevis. Each passenger was weighed before boarding and seat assignments were given based on that information:

The Nevis Airport was very basic in those days - this was the airport lounge - a new terminal/passenger area was under construction at the time. You can see it in the photo posted above:

I live about 30 miles from Whiteman Airforce base where the B2 Stealth Bomber fleet is stationed. I've had hundreds of low altitude flyovers through the years.
