Help me decide: white carrera or beige travertine bathroom?
Comments (7)The only thong i'd change to keep either option from becoming dated is to use chrome fixtures instead of brushed nickle (the finish of the day now a days). Chrome has always been and will always be, in style, from victorian days on forward. I'll throw another option in the mix...I have tan travertine in my master bath with chocolate cherry cabinets and a brown ceramic tile (ok it's crocodile skin but we're not counting) with white fixtures. It's a pretty classic looking room due to cabinet style. My counters are crema marble (soft tan marble). In my son's bathroom we have travertine with nordic black antique qranite accents on the floor (baseboard molding) and in the tub surround pattern. His counters are granite in Aquerella (looks like black granite with tan rocks all over it). My take on a black and tan :) White fixtures with chrome because white and chrome is always classic....See MorePlease help me decide between these 2 sinks for a small bathroom
Comments (4)Thanks! mcps - I hadn't even thought about whether someone would bump their head on the faucet! Something to consider... bluekitobsessed - unfortunately have already ordered the vanity. I can amend the dimensions of the vanity but not cancel it without losing deposit. Sink I originally ordered Lacava 5102 came with 3 faucet holes when I wanted one so am returning it. However, also found that I didn't like the way it looked (although at 17x15) it is a 'perfect' size for this bathroom. Dealer is okay with me choosing a replacement so am considering these 2. I like them both although my preference is for the "farmhouse theme" (didn't know there was a theme!) and so I like #1 but not crazy about the size - if it was larger I would snap it up. Buut haven't ruled it out yet. #2 looks nice (I saw similar sinks at a showroom) but not sure how functional it will be, if that makes any sense. Also, someone described it as "morgue-like" and although I'm not sure what that means, it's given me pause! Aaargh! Thanks, Amina...See MoreHelp me decide please? Adding a tub and a bathroom window?
Comments (4)@Janymoyer!! I just couldn't let go that a small master bath in our size of home is bad for resale. We bought this house because it was literally the only one that had enough bedrooms for our large family. It had been on the market quite a while. We've taken care of some of the many main reasons why we believe it sat for so long. It doesn't even look like the same house anymore, but it's not like we'll be redoing the master bath again in the next 20 years, so don't want to make a huge mistake now that will hurt us if we decide to sell it before that. I'm not sure why you edited to add the comment now about just donating our money to charity. I've seen people spend a lot more on bathrooms then we will spend even if we do it all. I'm just trying to be wise with our $$$, and trying to think about it from all aspects, while still ending up happy with the finished product and the feeling that we made the right choice considering everything....See MoreBathroom cabinet hardware: please help me choose type and size
Comments (8)I would get some in real life and test them out in person once the cabinets are painted--you can stick them on to see how they look before drilling. We have pulls very similar to Ascendra in our kitchen and I like them a lot, but it just depends on the style you're going for. We opted not to use knobs and just have pulls on both doors and drawers--3.5" ctc throughout. Some people like to vary the sizes based on the drawer sizes, but with your vanity I don't think I would. Our new bathroom vanity came with hardware that is 5.25" ctc on tiny drawers. I didn't love the size initially--we didn't get to choose it since it came pre-drilled--but it's growing on me....See MoreYayagal
