How to avoid streaks cleaning tile floors
Comments (4)Wash it over and over again with ammonia and water and maybe that quick shine stuff will go away. Very good rule of thumb, if it is sold on an informercial, don't buy it. Course the same can be said about store stuff. I use to clean my tile with a product from the grocery store (the name escapes me right now but everyone has heard of it). Our kitchen floor was only a year old when we moved. When the table and everything was moved out there was a yellow rectangle on the floor highlighting exactly where the sun touched the floor. Our new place with white linoleum floors, I only wash them with water and a microfibre mop and they sparkle like brand new after almost 4 years....See MorePennsylvania Blue Stone Decking & Natural/Real Stone Veneers
Comments (10)quote" Why did the buyer bail on bluestone? "quote Because I'm a Wussy and let them change to Oklahoma multicolor. Most of my competitors won't let a buyer out of his choices. I have buyer compassion when it comes to changes. If I'm told before the work starts on tile and coping they can make a change without additional charges as long as the product is of equal or lesser value. At any given time I have lots of pallets of rocks behind the shop so I really don't lose any sleep over it. I'm not sure if it's select or full color, heck I couldn't even tell you if it's from Pennsylvania. I'll be going to the shop this afternoon and will take a digital camera to snap some shots of the pallets. See ya, Kelly...See MoreStone veneer fireplace - love them, hate them, indifferent?
Comments (43)jhwu - that is fantastic, what a beautiful fireplace. That room has all my colours in it - walnut, light floors, green walls. I love it. sandnat - thanks for asking. I got sidetracked on another project for a couple of months this fall and this decision got postponed. But, I have decided not to go with stone, but rather tile as was suggested here. I've ordered samples of both the Heath Oval in new colours, and the Walker Zanger Studio Moderne tile. No one in my city carries these tiles, so it is a bit of an adventure getting samples. Although I still think I like the Heath tile just a tad more than the Studio Moderne, I also think the SM tile will better suit my space (although jhwu's photo is making me re-think that). I really like both tiles, so it will come downs to which works better with the look of my LR and DR. The WZ tile only stocks four colours: coconut, jute, ecru and clover. The others are special order. I'm not certain which colour I should go with - the clover may be too much. The other three that they stock are a bit plain. What do others think? My fav is probably the celadon matte. Once I get the actual samples in I might post again asking for opinions on colours, etc. But I'd appreciate opinions now too!...See Morehardwood floors - what to you use to clean them?
Comments (40)Chrissy, I understand that people want to protect their floors and carpets - all of that - but I think we should be more concerned about *people* than about our floors...I had a friend who had to wear special inserts in her shoes to keep her knees from dislocating. When she was in a shoes off home, she had to walk on the sides of her feet to keep her knees in place. It looked *awfully* uncomfortable...I guess I don't see how people can do that - insist that shoes come off, even if it makes their guests uncomfortable...yes, I could take "indoor only" shoes when I go places, but I don't have a huge shoe wardrobe - to have indoor shoes only. My goodness. And since they are tie shoes (not slip on), they're a pain to switch.... Sorry. Perhaps this is a bit off topic, but it does relate to cleaning floors - doesn't it? :-P...See Morewhatstheanswer
