Icestone counters...need help w/ backsplash tile
Comments (42)Hi Amy-- Sorry for the bad link. I think I fixed it below. Sadly, my pics don't give you the best representation of the color. Probably the closest is in picture #2, and the Walker Zanger catalog is pretty close to true as well. The green is more muted than bottle green, like a lighly grayed sage. And I have really come to love the subtle iridescence (that originally was a compromise for my husband). In most light, you don't see it, only when a ray of direct sunlight hits... since you're familiar with Oceanside glasstile, you probably know what I mean. We used Laticrete grout in Lichen and then we found Lutron outlet covers that matched the tile color perfectly (installed after my pics were taken). Anyway, your cabinets, Icestone and design are gorgeous. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices you are mulling. Good luck! Comments (7)The way you describe your kitchen, it sounds just like mine. I just agonized over the backsplash, and finally decided on Oceanside Glasstile, Geologie series, in Sandstone color, 1x2 offset brick pattern. It is a glass and slate combination. The runner up was a falling water honed slate by Stone & Pewter accents in the "Prairie" color. Tan Brown granite is going to look great. We went with Tropical Brown, but Tan Brown was a top choice too....See MoreWhite Quartzite/Luca de Luna counters-ideas for backsplash??
Comments (4)Out LDL/White Macaubus island was installed less than two weeks ago. It's so beautiful. Everyone that's seen it has commented on it and asked about it. We chose ours with some quartz crystal veining shooting in another direction that adds a bit of interest to it. Our leathered absolute black perimeter and bar will be installed within the next week. But we're going for more of a transitional feel rather than contemporary. I'm looking for "traditional with a twist" I guess. I chose it because I loved the linear pattern yet it felt flowy to me as well. I didn't want to deal with marble and didn't want the business of granite. I also didn't want my same antiqu brown granite from our previous home, though they were lovely. It was hard to swallow the price though! I may do marble hex tiles around the perimeter or a great small oval stone mosaic I saw at a local tile place. I haven't started my serious search yet since the perimeter isn't in. But I've been keeping my eyes opened....See Morealmost finished white kitchen, wood counters-need backsplash help
Comments (27)oh, momo...now I have google ann sacks and found those tiles...I JUST LOVE THEM. $83 per square foot, eh? Ay yi yi! I also found other tiles there that I love. Part of me almost wants to go nuts and ethnic and busy, since the rest of my kitchen is so simple. I am just afraid I will tire of it. Like this... (not this exactly, I just mean a busy, ethnic pattern. Kind of looks 70s to me, also.) cherry-Yes, we addressed the torso issue already! Yet another reason I want the mirror antiqued, and also not flat panes but rather tiles, so the "cuts" will break up the view a bit! I know what you mean, some of these threads get so long and I want to give my 2 cents but I just *know* one of my comments has probably already been made, but I say it anyway. Thanks for the input. You are not the only one with the opinion that with so much stainless and "coolness" I should go with warmth/color/texture. The things is...I see so many finished white kitchens similar to mine that have white tile as a BS, and I like them. I also like those pics that momo posted in her link, and they are white, with SS appliances, and mirrored BS and I think they look good. Well, I am torn and DH really wants me to make a decision so he can install. He wants the tile/color/texture look. I will keep you guys updated! Thanks so much!...See Moremark_rachel
