programmable remote thermostat for terrarium heaters
Comments (5)lucy you should be alec baldwins daughter... to say "whatever" makes you a rude, thoughtless little pig. I like the article. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. i bought a couple of these on ebay to use in my walk in terrarium and they work wonderfully. one is for reg heat and other is for backup....See MoreTermostat wiring (4 wires with orange??)
Comments (13)For everything I have read, yes it makes sense that the orange wire replaces the white wire for a heat pump configuration. The white wire is used to turn on the furnace for heat, and the yellow wire enables the condenser for cooling. But you have a heat pump, therefore when you are in heating mode, the thermostat will turn on the condenser (yellow), but it must also enable the reversing valve in the proper direction. The orange wire is used to control the reversing valve. Call the Hunter technical support line at 1-888-830-1326 from 8am to 5pm Central time. They should be able to review this with you and guide on which thermostat is appropriate for your set up....See Morereplacing 3-wire line voltage thermostats
Comments (33)Still trying to figure out your terminology. I'm guessing that the black in the wall at the box where the thermostat is cut and the resulting two blacks go to the thermostat, right? And the red enters the same box but goes through without connecting to anything. If that's the case, you can cut the red, giving you 4 wires (2 black and 2 red) and connect your 4-wire thermostat to them. This is safer than the 3-wire connection you had, because the 3-wire leaves one hot on all the time (the red wire)....See MorePre Wire with What? -building a house, Help needed
Comments (10)Run Cat6 to each location BUT - RUN 2 cables to each location, you may want to add additional cameras and cable is cheap and no more costly to pull 2 lines. Be SURE they use quality SHIELDED Cat6 with SOLID copper wire, NOT the cheap CCA coated Cat6 wire. IF you are in an area prone to lighting, run a #6 copper grounding wire from your wiring closet to the grounding rod for your electrical system. Figure out where you will mount your camera NOW. You do NOT want those mounted any higher than 8' off the ground unless you want to look at the top of peoples heads. For cameras FORGET THE NEST, they are garbage, do NOT use all wifi cameras. Don't set up for motion detection only, you want to capture what took place leading up to an incident. Record 24/7. Run POE cameras. I would HIGHLY recommend that you spend some time over on ipcamtalk.com and determine just what you want to purchase. The BEST value in the market for cameras now is the Dahua's. Purchase the right camera for each location, i.e. cameras for the front and rear door are TOTALLY different than the cameras that you want to use in a location to capture video of your front yard or driveway. Here's a link to a review for one of their cameras, this is one of their models that I'll be using. This is an OUTSTANDING camera and the current price is $170 per camera. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-starlight-varifocal-bullet-z5-7-35mm-ipc-hfw5231e-z5.18220/ Lastly DO YOUR HOMEWORK on cameras. I've spend a lot of time on ipcamtalk and I cannot recommend it enough, the folks their know what they're doing and like Houzz, they'll help you out....See Moregsdk9
