Need help designing bonus room with half bath.
Comments (3)lots of problems with family rooms over garage (frogs) link to google search below: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=family+room+over+garage+and+hvac+issues unless you make plans to insulate/air seal for extreme attic temps you could build a room that is uncomfortable year round. best of luck...See MoreNew Farmhouse by Mascord-Bryson-Bonus Room Ideas?
Comments (19)"Hey, let's position the garage door and front door right in each other's way so the homeowner can save a thousand bucks by forgoing a separate walkway. Never mind that the extra bend that's now needed in the driveway because of the garage facing to the side instead of the front will take more additional concrete than the little walkway we eliminated would save. Also, pay no heed to the complex footprint and rooflines that needlessly raise construction costs many thousands over a similar design with simpler forms. Just remember those thousand bucks we're saving here." Somehow, I've seen countless other houses with attached garages built on a far smaller budget than this one would need that do not have such cramped, awkward entryways. This is just a bad design. It can be fixed by moving the garage mass over a bit to give the human entry some more breathing room and make the garage doors face the front. By making the driveway straight, you'll save enough to be able to make a little walkway to the front door....See MoreLayout ideas needed for our bonus room
Comments (1)We have a bonus room over our garage and want to start using it. It's quickly becoming a crap trap! LOL We want this space to be multipurpose (media/game/guest room). A place for my older teens (19 and 16) to hang out in and a place for out of town guests to crash. It's a blank canvass. We have an idea of what we want to put in the room, just don't know how we should lay it all out. We have a queen-sized bed but would prefer a murphy bed, A 50" tv already installed on a wall. I'm open to moving it, DH on the other hand probably isn't. We also have a large projection screen and projector. And a foosball table. We will want some type of couch and a small table with chairs for board games. One of the twin mattress I am going to turn into a rolling ottoman. It can be used for lounging, as a coffee table with trays or just a bed to crash on. Our room has 6 small windows and one larger window 3x6 for natural light. I also need suggestions for paint color. I'm not sure if I want to keep it light and bright for our guests or go darker for a more media/game room effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated....See MoreNeed ideas for redoing the bonus room
Comments (5)I would get the 9x12 rug rather than 8x10. Swivel recliners or chairs for sure. they don't need to match. I would remove all the little things. no need for the ladder shelf unit, how about a tall green plant, would be a nice transition to the outdoor area. I would also do top down/bottom up blinds for the windows to control light while watching TV (the glare) the consoles are good. do you need the storage? rather than mount the TV on the wall? I would paint the whole wall that the TV will be againt a SW Naval, to obscure the TV and create a calming when viewing the TV. (also an interesting color for a room that gets a lot of natural light.) a shibori pattern for chair upholstery? Keep it simple, let the few pieces and the new rug shine....See Moregroveraxle
