kberrie, I'm not an architect so you'd have to ask yours for the best approach to getting more floorspace up there. I believe there are a couple of approaches... and any of these will likely add to the cost and change the look of the house (possibly making the garage/bonus area more dominent than you'd like.) Here's a very rough mockup. Left to right: Blue is the approximate shape of the current plan. Dotted line shows the approximate width of the space with adequate headroom (based roughly on the height of the front door.) Green is if you just changed the pitch of that roof. You'd have to go high and steep to significantly change the width of the usable floorspace, making that roof higher than the main part of the house. Not only might this be odd looking, it might be very cost prohibitive to build a roof that high/steep. Purple is if you built short vertical walls for the bonus room and kept the center of the roof roughly the same height. Naturally this makes the roof pitch flatter. Don't know if that shallow pitch is recommended/allowed or not. Grey is if you added short walls and made the center line of the roof a bit higher, but not as high as the green option. Naturally the higher you make the side walls, the more usable floor space you have (and the higher your roof is and/or it will be flatter.) Hopefully this shows a bit how changing the roof pitch and wall height (from zero to whatever) changes that floor space. Your architect can tell you what, if any of this, is allowed. But I thought I'd put this out here to give a sense of how the floor space gets to the size it is. I think you'll have to consider the cost and the impact on the look of the house compared to how much you value more space up there. HTH

"Hey, let's position the garage door and front door right in each other's way so the homeowner can save a thousand bucks by forgoing a separate walkway. Never mind that the extra bend that's now needed in the driveway because of the garage facing to the side instead of the front will take more additional concrete than the little walkway we eliminated would save. Also, pay no heed to the complex footprint and rooflines that needlessly raise construction costs many thousands over a similar design with simpler forms. Just remember those thousand bucks we're saving here." Somehow, I've seen countless other houses with attached garages built on a far smaller budget than this one would need that do not have such cramped, awkward entryways. This is just a bad design. It can be fixed by moving the garage mass over a bit to give the human entry some more breathing room and make the garage doors face the front. By making the driveway straight, you'll save enough to be able to make a little walkway to the front door.

I decided to put this room aside and concentrate on other parts of the house. I got super frustrated with it, LOL! This last week I went up there and decided to try again. First thing I did was commit to the project! I was going to pick a color and stick to it and not be afraid! I ended up looking online and found a room that was painted a beautiful navy blue and was accented with bright white. The room was gorgeous and didn’t look dark in the picture. I told myself that’s the color I want which is SW Naval 6244! I committed to it and there’s no going back. I spent all day yesterday painting. I love it! I just need to pick a white to go with it now. I have a new question. How long should that curtain be for that horizontal window? Ceiling to floor or just fit it to the window? I’m also going to put white wood blinds. I found a cute pair of panels that are navy and white striped, would that be to much? Or should I just get basic white curtains or maybe a pop of color like red or gold? Any advice y’all can offer would be much appreciated!

IMO don’t designate a bedroom at all. When you say music room are drums the only instruments or does the band bring stuff with them ? I would use the sapce you have for the bedroom for the workout space make sure you have a TV in there and mirrors on one wall if weights are part of the stuff. IMO the bathroom really only needs a shower and then you need some furniture for the band to hang out on and one of those pieces could be a sofa bed . so that sofa some chairs, A nice bar area where you show it , nice and close to the plumbing and I would add a small DW too
