Comments (10)OHHH MY cold Showers!! eeeks!! i will pray for that guy to hurry up!! i am surprised your hubby can't get it to light!! or you! hubs gets one of those long lighters for the bbq, and he holds it where the pilot light is on, the you turn the dial and hold in, i believe, but make sure the lighter is on, LOL while your holding in the gas is releasing, the directions should be on the dial or right above it, and then i believe you have to turn it a little more, and then let go. and it should stay lit. i had to light ours once. one time hubs had to light our heater that was in the basement of our house we were renting, and he couldn't get it to stay lit, well this time he was getting it to finally getting it to stay lit, but all of a sudden it blew out, and he didn't know, he was turning around to tell me something, i was impatient, and he turned back around, and the thing burned his finger so he let go of the lighter, so he instinctively started it back up, so that's when it blew up in his face, burnt his eyebrows off and his mustache, so now he uses the long handled lighter. and he absolutely hates lighting them things, and wonders why i absolutely hate gas!! GEEE babe, i wonder why?? it almost took out my hubs, my unborn child and me in the process. i boil huge things of water and take a bath, if i ABSOLUTELY have to. so guess what talla got for christmas from her grandma?? just guess???? ok i'll tell ya, geeze!! she got all the princess's in the barbie form. how crazi is that? and tabor got shooting set, and when he's done, he hits the middle one and then it resets itself. now that is way too awesome! she also got a ring/necklace/bracelet in her birthstone set. now this will be interesting to see what my mom comes up with, besides mariposa barbie, she got two of them so her and casy can play together. that was nice. my mom asked me what i want. i said an aero garden. Comments (9)My husband's parents used to celebrate the English way, or what they thought was English (they're from Hong Kong). A full dinner at 6p on Christmas Eve, putting up the tree, opening presents at midnight, and then eating a full meal AGAIN at 2am in the morning Christmas Day! This really wasn't very enjoyable for me, and since my MIL worked it was pretty stressful for her, too, doing all that stuff! They would make roast leg of lamb (Chinese will eat meat in huge quantities if they can afford it!), shepherd's pie, several Macanese (Portugese recipes adapted from Macau cuisine) dishes, and one little lonely package of Green Giant creamed spinach for 8 people. Eventually over the years, they stopped doing these parties, due to ill health and just getting tired of all the work involved. I was secretly relieved, although my husband STILL misses opening presents on Xmas Eve, LOL! My family of third-generation Asian Americans, celebrates Christmas Day. We never have a set menu, as all of us, including my now-grown-up nephew and niece, are dynamite cooks and love to experiment. Although we do a mostly traditional Thanksgiving, Christmas is always different. Sometimes we do "theme" ethnic cooking; sometimes we do more traditional stuff. This year it's slow-roasted salmon and prime rib, because my nephew is anxious to try cooking his first Big Piece of Red Meat :)) I make a smoked salmon sushi appetizer that the family really likes, so I offered to do the hors d'oeuvres this time. My BIL is vegetarian so he'll do a Greek salad and we'll have a couple of desserts -- probably a tiramisu and a fresh strawberry tart with lemon curd filling. My sister is in charge of the starch this year, could be pretty wild as she approaches cooking as a science experiment! New Year's we celebrate individually. My sister and her family do a buffet drop-in. My husband and I usually make ourselves a nice festive brunch -- blueberry French Toast or Chocolate Pancakes, and then maybe rack of lamb or filet mignon for dinner....See MoreA Christmas Story (long)

Comments (37)The ugly sweater embellishment is almost complete. The stuffed kitty will be perched on my right shoulder, with his hind legs, tail, and kitty butt facing the front, as he "leaps" down my back, grabbing at the string of lights that also descends willy nilly down the back side. The cat toy puff balls are on the back too. I have the Here Comes Santa CLAWS hat, so I'm just about ready for our party!...See More- 7 years ago
