Wow...what a great daughter and son-in-law...you are both to be commended for your dedication to family. The kitchen sounds beautiful, love the creams. Since your sister is physically challenged, need to be sure that there are things set up to be ergonomically friendly for all, but I am sure you know that. Counter height is important along with special needs in the bathrooms. I live in a retirement community and have a bad back, so I truly enjoy the single level living, just wish I had put a few more assist bars in various locations. I also wish I had installed a walk-in tub in my guest bedroom for when my Mom visits. I just did a shower there, but she prefers baths. She did try a walk-in tub recently and felt it was too small, so hope they will eventually make them bigger as I still may do that. Needless to say my OTR microwave is too high for her to use, so maybe one of those microwave drawers might be good in your Mom's kitchen. That quartz is gorgeous...love that color and design. It will look great with the ORB fixtures.

I travel with one carry-on and a tote bag, even for a three week trip to France, Italy or the UK. I stopped using packing cubes many years ago as they add to the bulk. I roll my clothes and make sure everything works together to make different outfits. In Paris, it's easy to have a wardrobe based on black in the cooler months and navy blue in the warmer months. I stay in a Paris apartment with a washer, so I can do laundry when needed. Shoes = difficult decision. I now use one pair of Italian Aquitalia short boots (I have both black and tan, depending on the season) that are stylish, comfortable and waterproof. I also take a pair of AGL ballet flats (I have black and nude, depending on the season). I have a pair of navy Repetto sneakers that I bought in Paris two years ago. I haven't yet taken those back with me. When I was in Paris in July 2014, the weather was HOT and HUMID. I had to wash my clothes a lot and I had comfortable gladiator sandals with me, too. I have a spinner, but I take that only if I'm on a carrier from the US. It's too large for European planes. If I'm connecting from a US airline to a European, I have to take a smaller carryon bag, such as a GoLite (went out of business).

The curtains in the first picture work remarkably well with your art and give some life to your very monochromatic room. I hope you'll want to remove the oversized letter B or perhaps move it onto a wall, although the trend for letter art has come and gone. If you love it then that doesn't matter but it doesn't really have a logical place where it is now. The pillow looks gorgeous by the way. If you look on pinterest or houzz living rooms you'll see that there's always more than one piece of art in a room, which creates a more finished and relaxed appearance, as do books and plants, which together with art you love helps to create a warm and vibrant environment.
