How do you clean tomato sap out of clothes
Comments (2)I can't speak for others but when working in the tomato patch I always had several outfits dedicated to just working with the tomatoes, for the very reason you noted as to staining of clothes. Maybe someone knows some special soap, or chemical, but I just washed my increasing green tinted clothes and watched them get greener and greener as the years passed, and when they were so tatty and green I started with a new set of tomato clothes. Same with sneakers, which I usually wore in the tomato field. So at one time I could have what I called my dress sneakers, then dress sneakers slightly soiled, then usually two pairs of tomato sneakers in case one pair got wet so I'd have a dry pair for the next day. ( smile) Carolyn, who grew a heck of a lot more than just tomatoes, so really should be saying special dedicated gardening clothes and sneakers....See MoreGetting Cigarette Smoke Out of Clothes
Comments (39)I avoid chemical odor "treating" products like the heavily advertised ones, as I'm "sensitive," and many products just mask odors. There's an old wive's tale - always test a spot first, of course - spray vodka (some would say a waste!) on musty clothes or cigarette-y clothes & hang in fresh air. I'm a proud ex-smoker. Sometimes takes a few spritzes & airings. I have many pets and don't want to seem like I'm shilling for a product but if it's okay on here, let me know (I'm new) - this stuff got moth ball odors out of old baby clothes! Dry cleaner couldn't! I'm a big soaker in various stain removal powders & sometimes washing items in washer with double detergent (careful with size of washer, etc....it works in my washer well, but everyone has a different model) then run a full cycle without detergent to rinse. Just some of the stuff I tried for that moth ball disaster. My mother's generation! Ugh!...See MoreCan't get smell out of clothes- please help!
Comments (21)I think you might be holding it against the product because they stated it on the label. Which cycle do you think the fabric softener comes in to play? Ever wonder why there are seperate compartments for bleach, detergent and fab con? The reason is the wash cycle takes in Detertergent first, then bleach and then fabric softener is released in the rinse cycle :) As far as the chemicals are concerned, I know this because I have been working with chemicals and labelling regulations all my life. I work as a scientist in New York, I am a Bio Chem PhD from UMich... Products that kill germs (Lysol, Clorox etc) are regulated by the EPA which means by US law they are mandated to list ingredients on pack thus you will see ingredient details. Other products like detergents, oxies, fabric softeners dont kill germs hence not regulated by EPA or government and thus you might never see whats on the inside :)...See MoreDish cloths & towels - what do you do with them?
Comments (46)Oh he's so cute! He'll be a great towel critter. Congrats on the new countertop, post pics when it's all in! I probably should have picked a different animal so I didn't copy robin d's towel pig idea. But he just spoke to me because I have had a thing about pigs my whole life and collect them. I don't have them all out, don't like the clutter. But a few of my favorite ones grace bookshelves and mantles and tv consoles throughout the house. Towel pig just fit in so perfectly! But if I found a Towel Robin, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat!...See MoreNancy Wakefield
