oh, man... mocassin... you are being such a good sport... but I've got to tell you, I've been agonizing over whether Fragrant Blue is a medium - or a large. I've got old clumps that break the 48" mark, but more typically they would be around 36-40"... we're calling them MEDIUM. And hhb... I too was kind of disturbed by all the back and forth on the sizes around the BME dispute - and finally just came to the conclusion that those folks who want to do leaf shows and judge leaf shows just get to set sizes any way they want. As much as I enjoy a leaf show, there is no way that I'm going to call a 28" diameter hosta clump of small leaves a mini... and likewise, a plant that stays small in diameter by nature but has leaves 18" long on a couple of eyes after a decade in the garden just isn't an extra-large. Of course, the nursery folks and catalog writers are pretty much ignoring the official AHS leaf-area size labeling and going with height-and-width sizing anyway...

My door plan is fairly open I have the same pattern on my family room, dining room and a couple of runners BUT I ordered them in 2 different colors. One is a cream with pattern and the other is a light teal with the same pattern. Mine are from Capel. I'm happy with the look. I have lots of other patterns/fabric so semi matcha rugs work well for me.

Leah I'm guessing you looked at the pix in my link on gillianma's thread? It showed a couple of examples, and as I said, I will have more in my article on Wed, including persian rugs over sisal. Most rugs over sisal are done to either (a) achieve a look or (b) to create a "safe zone" area for spills and/or foot traffic. Personally, I would be hesistant to place a Karastan (and I love Karastans--I've praised them a lot in the past) simply because most are pretty thick and will end up looking heavy and off balance on a sisal--especially since you mention a larger (8x10) sized Karastan. Considering the excellent quality Karastans are known for, in this case you would be better served investing in the larger size.

tryin2grow: I think the local rug dealer is very respected in the industry and it seems that he's one of the main dealers that designers work with in this area. Maybe that's not enough of an endorsement but I thought it was a good sign. He was speaking in terms of quality--that when they see the rugs some are A, B or C. These would be C and he would reject them. He pointed out the wide bands of color variation in the field, as opposed to the more subtle striations. I didn't realize that your SF wholesaler had access to these rugs too. I thought you were talking about the Due Process Stable Trading guy and his rugs. valinsv: Oh no. I hope you haven't been following it too closely. I feel like I could write a book on how NOT to go about decorating or buying a rug. I think my biggest problem is that I'm so afraid to make a mistake that I don't make any decisions. I have the luxury of starting from scratch so I started with the rugs. I think I'm very close now only because I've had to change my thinking about the color scheme. Costco Home is different from regular Costco in that it only sells furniture, linens, accessories, etc. The rug department is an independent vendor, a former rug store. oceanna, Costco Home is in Kirkland at 120th Ave. I don't think there are very many nationally; it might even be the only one in the country. The choice isn't between gold and blue but that's a good point about wanting something that adds warmth. I've linked the rug site below although when I spoke with the guy at Costco Home, he claimed that the rugs were from the city of Jaipur. He wouldn't commit to these being from the Jaipur Rug company although the Costco Home rugs were tagged with the same names and colors used by Jaipur Rugs. The names are changed on the Costco site.
