Flooring Design Dilemma Kitchens

Need help choosing flooring for whole home flooring replacement

I have a small 70s ranch that is a mix of carpet, laminate and tile flooring. I would like to replace this with LVT. I have narrowed it down to Karndean Korlok and would like opinions on which color choice best fits my home color scheme.

My walls are painted Sherwon Williams in the colors Accessible Beige, which is a very light gray, in every room except living room which is Dovetail, a medium brownish gray, and kitchen/dining combo which is Mindful Gray, it is a cool gray that casts a bluish gray. We also have a red statement wall in the hallway. Our trim is white and kitchen cupboards white. Our counters in the kitchen are granite with browns and grays (see photo). Our appliances are stainless.

So so which would you choose:

1. Canadian Urban Oak

2. Natural Oiled Oak

3. Texas White Ash

First IMO all the walls should be the same color in space that adjoin that removes on element for sure then the red wall needs to go for now that removes another element now choose a floor color that works with the granite since that is not changing. Once that is done then if you still want a red wall get a red that goes with the floors. You never try to coordinate an expensive item to a cheap one .

All three choices are beautiful and any of the three would work. My choice would be Canadian Urban Oak because I like the undertones and its ability to hide dirt.

it would be more helpful if you showed a pic of the entire space instead of close-ups.

all of your choices work w/your cabinets and wall color.

I like the Urban Oak the best. (the left) the others on the right look too pink based on your pictures.

pick whichever one has the warmer tone, without any pinks or taupe undertones.

I made some calls to Marvin. They told me there was no after sale blind for their Marvin Integrety doors (they do sell some for other doors). The also told me if I installed the Home Depot one you linked, it would void my warranty. They said their doors were sealed, so I could not pry apart the frame to add the shade/glass you linked. So, it does not look like this is an option. I think I am back to installing sheer shades on the outside of the door -- at least they will match the rest of the main level window coverings. I wish we had the option now to add door blinds like you showed, but it does not seem to be an option as far as my research has revealed.

the place we ordered from doesn't keep it in stock. We've got the sheet from where it was shipped from, so we plan to call them. There's 10 other places that sell it, tho, w/in a couple few hours of here, if need be, and I don't know if they all get them thru the place ours came from or I would assume there are more warehouses or wherever. I'd think we'd have it all taken care of by May, so I think we'll be good. And if not, we'll figure it out then! Nice we don't have a big house-it was like 4 and a partial boxes to do the pantry.

Here is the DNA on SW Sea Salt. It has an LRV (light reflective value, or how much light does it absorb or reflect.) of 65 so 100 is most reflective. 65 makes it not very reflective, kind of mid range. It has a Hue Family (what is the main color that is most likely to show thru) of Green/Yellow (cool segment) and it has a moderate Chroma which means it has enough black to "gray it down" and helps define how much "color" is in the paint. This one has a fair amount of Chroma, so it is pretty "colorful". So, if you want a more "quiet" backdrop, look to the "off-whites". Some to get samples of and compare are SW Chantilly Lace (pretty white); SW Extra White (not quite as bright but still white); SW Cotton Balls, SW Pure White is nice too. Then you can get some of the more colorful choices like SW Sea Salt, SW Agreeable Gray, SW Accessible Beige, SW Alabaster (more yellow Hue Family) or SW Worldly Gray which has much more color but fairly neutral tending to gray tones. Worldly Gray has an LRV of 57, so it is mid-range light reflective. Not as reflective as SW Sea Salt for example at 65. LRV is measured from 0-100. The closer to 100 the more reflective; the closer to 0 the less reflective and more absorbing of light.

Also - I agree with you - I think changing out the lighting will make a big difference. Maybe you could start with that, and then if you want more of a change, evaluate then? Perhaps something with a slight greenish hue could work well with the granite + provide a nice contrast with all of your wood. Also -- I love the contrast in your bookshelves with the wood + white, plus the way you've organized them. It really looks beautiful and warm/inviting.

They are so similar I don't think you can go wrong. I would go with natural oiled oak.

The Natural Oiled Oak is beautiful but it does have some pink undertones in certain lighting. I used 900 square feet of it in a condo.

Oak and Board, if you will read above you will see that these choices are Karndean Korlok flooring. Sierra400, Canadian Urban Oak gets my vote.

@Beth H. : I liked the look of what she was considering, specifically Canadian Urban Oak. We recently purchased a house and need to replace all of the flooring. I was curious as to if she was pleased with what she chose and how it's holding up.

If you look up SJ McCarthy, she's the flooring pro on here. you'll find her comments about how things hold up on numerous posts. If you find her profile, click on her activity, and see if you can find one where she talks about diff flooring. she talks a lot about diff LVP brands.

or, start your own post, with a few pics, and ask for advice on flooring choices. If you have a few samples, post the pics of those and see if you get any hits
